I know there are a ton of people on here in Dallas. Where are your favorite places to go? This area is so damn big that I feel like that even though I have been here for four years, I haven't even begun to scrape the surface of the places to eat...Here are mine: Burgers: Burger House on Hillcrest or Jake's on Mckinney Pizza/Italian: Campisi's or Stromboli on Hillcrest for Pizza/ Petrizio's for Italian Mexican: Herrera's Cajun: Dodies Sandwiches: Great American Hero Sushi: Agia
DallasLSU, I know that you're "in the city," and I'm definitely in the suburbs, but here's a list of mine, many of which (though not all) are in the 'burbs. Burgers: Ben's Half-yard House, Chip's (Knox Henderson), or Scotty P's (Plano, Frisco, or Allen). Honorable mention is Joe Willy's on Greenville. Mexican: Uncle Julio's or La Hacienda Ranch or The Blue Goose Cajun: Pat's of Henderson! I used to like Pappadeaux's, but I got sick after eating there two years ago, and it's just never felt the same. Steak: and I can't recommend this enough--Randy's Steak House in Frisco. It's best to have reservations and to wear something nice, and dinner for two is going to probably run over $100, but it's steak nirvana. When my husband and I have the opportunity to acutally have a babysitter for both of our girls, then Randy's is the place. Randy greets all of his patrons during their dinner--usually with a huge mixed drink in his hand. I also love Snuffer's. Campisi's is great, too--though we took my parents there six or seven years ago, and a couple of guys almost got into a fight over their places in line in that crowded little foyer, and that kind of turned us off--the quarters being a little bit tight. And even though we eat out at least two times a week, I'm drawing an utter blank otherwise--of course, we always go to the same places anyway...along with the myriad chain restaurants that cater to families.
Oh, and I almost forgot for burgers: Keller's on Harry Hines. Talk about a hole in the wall--though it's a drive in. All of the carhops look like "working ladies" past their prime from walking Harry Hines, and if you're in Dallas, you know what I mean about Harry Hines, I am sure.
I've also heard good things about Texas de Brazil, but I haven't been either. It's supposed to be great, but don't eat for about three days before you go, so you're sufficiently hungry.
I was in Dallas a couple of weeks ago and went to Fogo de Chao (Brazilian Steak House) in Addison. It's Adkins heaven. Filet mignon, prime rib, pork loin, lamb chops, sausages, chicken, sirloin, etc, etc. Plus, it's the largest salad bar I've ever seen. The cost is $44.00 plus drinks, dessert, tips, etc. If you are a carnivore like me, it's worth it.
From what I understand, Fogo de Chao and Texas de Brazil are very similar. I've heard about that salad bar, and it's making me hungry. Of course, since my husband's in New York on business, and I'm home minding the two little girls, I'll probably be dining on chicken nuggets tonight.
I really want to go to that place now. Although before I do anymore steak in Dallas, I need to go to Bob's which is a landmark and nationally recognized. I just haven't done it yet which is amazing considering I love steak and it's a five minute drive from my place...
