I sent an Email to Jerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning news after he said.
"The Oklahoma-LSU winner will be the equivalent of the champion from a third-rate boxing federation."
    In Mondays Sports Section.
He replied... And to his defense I appreciate what he said and wanted to share it with you.

    First is my email.
    Mr. Fraley,
I am confused in todays article your statement
"The Oklahoma-LSU winner will be the equivalent of the champion from a third-rate boxing federation."

LSU is in the Sugar Bowl, and appears to be the only team out of the three that everyone agrees actually should be in the game with out question. If LSU is fortunate to win are you willing to say they are not National Champions, and their title is a farce?
In short why would you make such a careless statement?

LSU and its fans have waited many years for this. LSU deserves and earned its shot, the argument is USC and OU. If LSU wins and is NOT voted by the writers (Which many writers say they would consider LSU #1 for beating OU) that would be a bigger travesty then any BCS... Those kids on LSU teams earned their shot, and for someone such as yourself to make such a statement is plainly sad and un-called for.

Nothing you or your sidekicks will write will take away the fact LSU has beaten a top 10 team twice, won arguably the toughest division in college football in a rout, when the other two schools in the mess either don't even play a championship game, or got blown out in one
If LSU beats OU, and once again beats a top 10 team (That would be 3 in one season, game time rankings) to USC's 1 to date (That's right 1) top 25 game let alone victory.
They will be the undisputed national champions. Regardless of you misinformed and misguided statements.

Let me ask you had USC LSU and OU all lost their 1 one game at the end of the season to the teams they lost to (USC to 7-6 unranked Cal, LSU to ranked UF, and OU to ranked K-State) would USC be ranked #1 ???
    I think not..
    .
It was a magical season and your article was disappointing to say the least.

    WHAT HE REPLIED WITH.
    Mr. MacDonald,
    Thanks for the note.
You are right. I was trying to say that Oklahoma will be a false national champion. I should not have applied that to LSU. I was trying to point out that the winner will not be an undisputed national champion and missed the mark.
I am impressed with everything LSU has done this season. Beating Georgia twice in a season is impressive. So is winning the SEC, the nation's toughest conference.
Beating Oklahoma will make LSU the undisputed champion only if USC loses to Michigan. Those are the two best teams.
If USC and LSU still ended up as conference champions but not Oklahoma after season-ending losses, I would stil have USC as No. 1.

USC & Michigan are the two best teams ... LOL, sounds like a Rosy Bowl Homer to me ... (FB only counts when it's played in the BIG PAC 20 ... and the Rose Bowl winner is the best team in America ... bar none).

Matter of fact ... they can get together and make a SUPER CONFERENCE ... I hereby squeeeeeeeeeeeeeze really, really hard and conceive the idea of a NEW SUPERCONFERENCE

THE BIG PAC 20 ... they can have a conference playoff East vs. West Division ... and the SACRED COW can play for the NC if undefeated ... they can make a BCS codicil out of it.

    whaddaya think?

I interpreted the remark about "the two best teams" as a reference to LSU and USC.
