Just wanted to give you guys and gals a few great places to have a great meal in the D/FW area. 1. Monica Aca Y Alla, i think its on main in deep ellum, great mexican food, for a great price, also a very eclectic atmosphere on the weekends with live music. 2. Bronx Restaurant on Cedar Springs in Dallas, very classy place, with great food, the wilted spinach salad is amazing, also if you go there check out the very back room, its old and quaint, and quiet, and is wonderful for date night with your significant other. 3. Lili's Bistro on Magnolia in Fort Worth, absolutely amazing food, at a reasonable price. Voted best non chain fries in Texas, and for a reason, they are amazing. Last time i went i had the Wasabi crusted sea scallops and they were perfect. Vance is the owner and he is a great guy, and will sit and have a glass of wine with you. Its kind of small, but very intimate and very nice. anyone else have some great D/FW places that i havent found yet?
We always end up at the same places, but here's my list: Randy's Steakhouse in Frisco for an upscale dinner. The filet mignon is out of this world, as are the au gratin potatoes. We only go a couple of times a year because we don't take the kids, so we have to pay for a sitter and then $150 for dinner. For Tex-Mex: La Hacienda Ranch in Frisco (there are also locations in North Dallas/Preston Road and Lewisville). Whenever out-of-staters come to visit, we take them here. It's just screams TEXAS, but the fajitas are first-rate, as is the queso and the Texas margaritas. We've also been told the steaks are incredible, but have always eaten Mexican there. Uncle Julio's steak fajitas are beyond compare. We always go to the one in @ Keller Springs and the Dallas North Tollway (near Addison.) Snuffer's for cheese fries, of course. Chip's on Knox Henderson for great burgers. Campisi's for pizza.
there is also a La Ha in grapevine on 121 and glade. I agree with you, they have great steaks, also J.R.'s in Grapevine has great steaks. If you like fajitas, try the shrimp fajitas at Gloria's which has many locations, Frisco, 3 in Dallas, Colleyville, etc etc. good stuff stacey
My daughters love La Hacienda Ranch because they have the old-fashioned mechanical horses on the front porch, like we used to see at grocery stores, etc. when we were kids. They'll be perfect at dinner for the promise of a horse ride when we're leaving.
I just went to La Hacienda Ranch for the first time Thursday night. Its a mile from my house and had never been. Damn good. Others I like: Terilli's - Italian. decent prices, great atmosphere and really good food. Celebration - Home style cooking with seconds. Love the pot roast. Bubba's - Comfort food. Chicken strips, mashed potatoes, green beans, cornbread...you get the idea. Texadelphia - I've been working in Philly for the last 3 months and this is better Perry's - High end steak place but, unlike most, the food actually lives up to the price Fish Bone - Best Shrimp poboy in Dallas and I've tried every place I can find. Fuel City - It's a gas station but its really all about the tacos there. It's a legend.
yeah, DICK'S last resort, that would be right up your alley. or hooters, so you can go in a lust over girls who have rejected you your whole life.
There's a place called Babe's Chicken, which has locations in Grapevine, Carrollton, and now Frisco. It's a family-style place that serves fried chicken, chicken fried steak, or barbequed chicken. A person orders one "entree" and then passes their plate around (the chicken comes with 4 pieces, the chicken fried steak has 3 big pieces.) All-you-can-eat sides of mashed potatoes and gravey, creamed corn, and biscuits come out any time you ask. I've only been twice, but it's really good. Don't eat for the entire day before going! I'm glad you tried La Hacienda Ranch! It's truly one of my favorite places; we went last Saturday. They claim to have invented the frozen margarita and are having some sort of special with $1.25 for your first margarita between May 5 & 17 (I think.) They are rolling back to 1971 prices, when the owner "invented" the frozen margarita. Where is Fish Bone? Oh, and the best Philly cheesesteak I've found it at Fred's Downtown Philly Cheesesteaks here in Plano. It's an absolute greasy hole-in-the-wall (and I order for takeout), but Fred is from Philly and is a total character. For instance, he makes fun of me for ordering my half a #1 without onions. "Typical woman. Half a sandwich and no onions!"
