http://www.nola.com/sports/t-p/index.ssf?/base/sports-28/1169795909146480.xml&coll=1 I hope there is not much too this, but it was in the Times-Picayune this morning. I have not seen any other threads reference this today, but if so I hope I'm not re-hashing anything already discussed. Did any of the Baton Rouge News/Sports shows cover this today?
I live in Dallas and listen to Sports talk radio ALL day including hourly Cowboy Reports. And Les Miles name has never been mentioned. 1. Norv Turner 2. Wade Phillips Two other spares. The only college coaches mentioned are 1. Stoops 2. Meyer Both who would never work for Jerry Jones.
Yep, TexasTigers is right on the money. Other names are Gary Gibbs (Saints), and the radio folks also throw out Mike Singletary. I haven't even heard Miles' name mentioned in passing.
I'm glad to hear this, although I'm not sure he would really be interested in the job. He'd seemingly be going from the catbird seat to a pretty tough situation...and I really don't think he'd care for TO very much. Who do the sports talk stations seem to be pushing?
Do you have valid sources to back this up???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
The Ticket in Dallas brought up Miles once due to his success at LSU and ties to the Cowboys, but I would say Miles has a 2% chance at being asked for an interview. However, I think Iron Mike would be a great choice - this guy will be a great coach one day......mark my words.
I love Singletary. Who could ever forget the way that guy looked as a player. Eyes BUG WIDE open and looked like he was ready to eat someone. Everything I've read about him has be super positive.
Anyone notice the coincidence that this "rumor" emerged as Suitcase Saban is making his tour of the state looking to plunder treasures?
Galloway and Hansen on ESPN 103.3 are all over Norv Turner, since he gets along so well (apparently) with Jason Garett (sp?). FWIW, the conventional wisdom here seems to be that whoever is hired as HC for the Cowboys will be hired half to coach the team and half to groom Jason Garett to be HC in two or three years. I had lost track of Garett, but apparently folks are real high on him. TexasTigers, what's your take?
