Because the rich starts with those that make over 250,000. After that well is dry then it's those that make over 150000 then down to 100,000. Getting close? When does it end? You have those who work 70 hour weeks getting taxed to pay for those who don't work at all. There are jobs out there. There are jobs that people will not do because they are hard. That's why illegals come here and almost always find work. You have people that do not pay taxed voting for others to be taxed more. Does that seam right or socially just?

An income tax isn't mentioned in the constitution.

It is irrelevant if I am or am not in the top 5%. You must pay to play and many don't.

Yeah I think that's stupid. Rich isn't 250,000. When I advocate tax increases on the rich, i'm talking about multimillionaires (like in the hundred million range) and billionaires. Those are the guys who have raked in the dough over the last 10 years while everyone else has had to bust their asses for scraps. I also firmly believe that one should have to work for their benefits, unless they are just physically or mentally unable to do so.

That is just stupid. Take from the haves and redistribute to the have nots. That will solve none of our present economic difficulties. NONE!!

No one said anything about giving to the have nots, we are talking about paying the nations debts. That will help our economic situation immensely.

Waste of time trying to explain that Red. Faux News and the right wing propaganda machine has all these people believing that Obama is going to Robin Hood the rich. They would rather cut 500 bucks a month from an old senior than ask a rich person to pay 5 bucks more. The only people who have benefitted over the last 10 years, the top 2%. Oh but they are the job creators, well if that were true there wouldn't be a job crisis.

Obama has offered to talk about cuts to entitlements but the republicans will not deal. McConnell even said a deal is unattainable under this President. I'm telling you this is purely politics and trying to set themselves up for a win in 2012. They want this country to be in worse shape than it is now so they can take power back, and further ruin this country.

LOL $500 from an 80 year old man and $5 from a rich guy. Good analogy...

We don't have a revenue problem.

    Fix spending
    Fix deductions/loopholes

    Then talk taxes

Until then, there is ZERO chance that increased taxes will pay down the debt, rather fund the OUT OF CONTROL spending.

Maybe if you weren't so "left wing" you could understand this simple concept.....

You are making sh!t up, no one said that raising taxes would fix the debt problem. It damn sure won't hurt it though. And it's not raising taxes, it's going back to before the bush tax cuts. You know when the economy was fine?

Then go back to the same spending budget....

The problem is, them Dem's just wanna raise taxes to pay for spending....

I'm not saying the Republican plan is right, I am saying that raising taxes is wrong and wont fix CHIT. It will do more harm than good.....
