1. We voters will make no distinction between the Unions and the Democrats who harbor them.
  2. If you have to ask this, you don't have a clue.
  3. Even though I agree with Martin on most things, I'm with you on this red. American families' financial security is a matter of national security. Maintaining a way for Americans to support their families are of the upmost importance. By allowing our manufacturing base to be exported to other countries you cut the legs out from under the American middle class. If another world war such as ww2 would happen that manufacturing base would be the diffrence in winning and losing. The German technology was in many ways more advanced than the allies. They developed jet engines and far superior tanks(tiger). The manufacturing ability of the allies trumped the technology. Quanity has a quality all it's on. We must maintain a manufacturing base. Where will the componets come from to build the computer boards to put into new jets and tanks if a war broke out and we needed to make thousands of both?

  4. So you are the guy implying factory workers can't get degrees, and I am the snob?

Why do they need degrees anyway? There are tons of great jobs that don't require degrees.
  5. You are correct. As long as you continue your training in your field you can develop a career that can pay well without a degree. My field is industrial inspection. I have been at it 22 years and have obtained certifications in multiple fields. As long as you never stop adding to your qualifications you will contine to grow. There are 30+ $ an hour jobs out there if you stick with your field and never stop growing your resume.
  6. I am the realist, you are the snob.

if this were true, we would not have an unemployment crisis. The non-government jobs that have been lost are almost all blue-collar jobs. We have tons of job openings in nursing and engineering, computer science, and medical technology. The former auto workers whose factories have been outsourced can not fill them. The former construction workers whose jobs are being filled by illegal Mexicans cannot fill them. And our second-rate public schools do not turn out enough science students to fill them either. If not for highly educated foreign students staying here with their expertise, we would be in real trouble. That helps us fill the positions, but it does nothing to create blue-collar jobs for the large numbers of blue-collar workers we need.
  7. There are not enough of these positions. The average field available to a high-school educated person tops out far lower than your position in the plants. And your job is subject to being outsourced if your plants go overseas.
  8. That's why I am so upset with the drilling permit delays. I work at a refinary that the majority of the oil recieved there is a domestic product. The gulf oil must flow.
  9. You finally admit we have an unemployment crisis. Good. Now face up to the fact that it's Obama's fault and there will be hope for you.
  10. I think you have made headway on your young apprentice. Just a little more guidance and he may just step right in line.
