Did anyone else think the story about Cutler's dad getting mad with the hits his son takes nominates him for the Wimp of the Year Awards? It's football, and he's going to get hit. Then, we have to go and hit Cutler late (though Russell was hit even a step later earlier in the game, and it wasn't called). I thought Cutler's daddy was going to go down and hit somebody. Well, actually, I doubt he would go hit anybody, but he was certainly complaining. My dad coached high school football for about 30 years, and we spoke on the phone during the game last night. We both agreed that his dad sounded like a p***y! We always heard moms getting upset about their babies being hit, but the dads usually didn't! And as my dad used to tell the moms, he had around 8 or 10 players who were killed in traffic accidents during his career. He only had two guys hurt badly enough that they couldn't play football again.
that was some lame ass crap IMO. I remember when they kept panning to his family when the coach was taking his out of the game, and you could see the frustration of cutler as if he was saying to himself "god dammit, im going in... stop being such a puss dad"
Did Cutler's dad look like a drunk to anyone else? Every time they showed him on TV I kept thinking he looked like an alcohol(ic)...
The difference is that our late hit on Cutler was helmet to helmet (or helmet to facemask)- thats automatic. Had it not been helmet to helmet, it probably wouldnt have been called. That single play is the only thing Mr. Cutler had a good reason to complain about.
No one likes to see their kid beat senseless. You didn't hear his dad on tv complaining you heard some lame tv commentator passing on hearsay. I've seen many dad look bewildered on tv while watching their kid get killed and Cutler was getting killed last night. Had his dad given an interview saying please don't beat up my kid or something I might feel the same way but i didn't see him do that.JMO
With the exception of the one cheap shot late in the game, Cutler's dad should be crying to the Vandy O line about the miserable protection they gave his son all night long.
he looked angry (jay cutler) about them taking him out of the game. it looked like something from varsity blues. except with no happy ending.
I doubt seriously the announcers made up the story about him com, plaining to the Vandy athletic department and the coaches about Cutler getting hit too much. He shouldn't be complaining about anything, but maybe you missed it when they said that was what his dad had complained about to the staff. If your son is a QB at one of the notoriously bad football programs and plays in the SEC you had better expect him to take a beating, they are wimps IMO, lucky for Vandy the kid isn't.
He was interviewed by the local sports/news people in Nashville after the game. I watched a long segment on this. The man was furious about the hits LSU had put on his son.
