anyone care to translate? “The one thing is the linebackers have to withhold just a little bit longer because it’s a shotgun snap,” Crowton said. “You’re hoping they don’t rush quite as fast. And if there’s a blitz they have to line up with whoever has the back. So if you run the option or any stretch plays outside, sometimes the defenses offset, you line them up. They level off and it gives your line a good chance to come off their blocks and get them.” specifically, what is "they have to line up with whoever has the back", "defenses offset", "you line them up", and "they level off"?
He's making the point that sometimes LBs will line up shaded to one side or shaded to the outside, if you're running sweeps or other outside plays. For example, the ROLB may line up in front of the center, with the other LBs shaded farther over. This makes it tough for the linemen to get into their second line of blocking. After they've blocked the d-lineman in front of them, they release to go block linebackers. If the ROLB is already halfway across the line, the left guard or left tackle can't get over to him to block him. And by leveling off, he's just saying they stay more in their normal pre-snap position (e.g. ROLB in front of LT.)
