If Kansas State upsets Oklahoma, they still may not go to a BCS bowl, but rather to the Holiday Bowl. If Kansas State wins and Oklahoma still plays for the National Championship, Texas would get the other at-large bid due to their top six BCS finish and no conference can have more than two teams in the BCS. Great system we have! A team that can lose in the conference championship game can still play for the National Championship and the team that beat the team that is playing for the National Championship in the COnference Championship doesn't even make it to a BCS bowl...WOW!
There is a flaw in your statement. The Top 6 Provision is just for teams of non-BCS conferences. You get a BCS bid for winning your conference or for being #1 or #2 in the final rankings. Texas would be left out.
K St. gets automatic bid, OU gets at-large bid and still plays for NC even though they don't win their conference. Texas gets shut out.
Not per the Sporting News...K State would not finish within the top 6...and that is not just for non BCS schools...
Well there you go...the SPorting News also picked Auburn to win the National Championship before the season...sorry...stupid magazine!
For some reason I get Sporting News for free too. I am not sure why. I never paid a dime and I get it until April 04.
A few years ago I had a trial subscription to Sporting News and they kept sending me issues for over a year after it expired. SN is a lot better at baseball than they are at football.
