I am having a boil here in Dallas in two weeks. I get my crawfish brought in by my relatives in La. I was just wondering what the price and quality is like right now? Any insight would be much appreciated...
At lunch today a couple of the farmers were talking about the catches being up A LOT. The two I had lunch with are getting a dollar per pound. The quality should still be very good, they start getting hard when the water temperature is very warm but it's been pretty cool.
the Woman working at the place had a bigger Adam's apple than me, so I opted to avoid the kiss. She did give me a reach around though.
Actually just spent an hour this morning checking prices around here. About $1.59 to $1.89 a pound here in Gonzales/BR area. Those that offer "select" are selling for $2.19 a pound. Boiling three sacks Saturday. Got them for $1.59 a pound. Could get for less if we drove a bit, but with gas it would work out the same.
Got some decent ones at Corvilles in Port Allen for for $1.49 a pound a couple weeks ago. I bought some at the Fiesta here in Dallas Sunday. They were only $1.29 a pound but they were really small and at least a quarter of them were dead. I usually don't go there but it was a last minute thing. I got a guy that brings them into Dallas from LA every Thursday or Friday and takes orders. PM me if you need the number.
I appreciate it, but I've got it taken care of. I saw that they have an all-you-can -eat crawfish night at Dodies cafe. I think they have the best cajun food in Dallas. I might have to go try it out. I have yet to find really good crawfish already prepared in Dallas.
got some in Brusly last week for 60 a sack, supposed to be select, but there was quite a few small. I wasn't all that impressed. But, word is the price is coming down.
