The Green Bay Packers cut Akili Smith today, so Craig Nall will be the 3rd string QB behind Favre and Doug Pederson.

  2. Thats good news especially after his poor showing (the televised one) this preseason. He had the good NFL Europe year so what we saw may have just been a bad outing.

I caught the tail end of a radio show the other day and they were talking about the Packers QB situation....one guy said something along the lines of trading/cutting players...... and the host of the show (can't remember name) went on th talk briefly about the Packer QB's and said that the Packers really love Nall and that he wouldn't be going anywhere.

From the few minutes that I caught it sounded like Nall was doing pretty good up in Green Bay..........who knows, in a bout 5 years: Davey, Nall, and Booty could be NFL starters..( well, Booty's a long shot)

Booty will be lucky to move up to a #2 in his career.

But I will say, it doesn't happen too often where 3 QB's that went to the same school around the same time are all in the NFL. The only other I can think of is Joey Harrington, AJ Feeley and Akili Smith from Oregon. I'm not sure if Palmer, Johnson and Wuerrfel were all at FL at the same time or not.

Not sure if Johnson was there at the same time but Wuerrful, Palmer and Shane Matthews were. If Johnson was there at the same time that would give them 4.

At one time Terry Bradshaw, Bert Jones and Joe Ferguson were all NFL starters at the same time. Only Bert Jones went to LSU but Bradshaw and Ferguson went to the same high school in Shreveport and Bert Jones was from a few miles away in Ruston.

Johnny Unitas, Joe Nameth, Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Jim Kelly and George Blanda are all from an area in Pennsylvania north of Pittsburgh called the Cradle of Quarterbacks. All are in the Hall of Fame except for Marino and he is a lock for the Hall on the first ballot as soon as he becomes eligible.

You sure Shane Mathews was their when Weurrful was? I thought Danny started as a frosh......which wouldn't make sense if Mathews was there.

Shane Matthews was the starter and a frontrunner for the Heisman. He had a bad first half and Coach Visor Boy substituted Wuerffel in the second half and Matthews never played another down for the Gators.
