Can you be nominated for Vice President if you were not Born in the US? I know you cant be President, but not sure about VP. I would think no, because he is next in line if something happens to the Prez.

You answered your own question... If Arnold was the vice-president and the president died..... Would Arnold be eligible to become president? Nope.

Logically the vice-president would need to fit all of the qualifications of the president in order to be able to assume the presidential role should the situation arise. Thus, I am fairly certain the laws and requirements for vice-presidential eligibility are the same.

Thats what I figured too. I had heard an internet rumor that Guliani would consider Arnold as a running mate in '08 if he ran. Didnt think that was capable of happening

I hope that this country has more to offer in four years than Hillary and Giuliani as presidential candidates for their respective parties.

Giuliani thrives off the publicity of his handling of NYC during 9/11. Yet before that he was not a well-liked mayor and had a lot of controversial issues associated with him.

Hillary thrives off of her husband's tenure. A LONG list of negatives can be made about her.

I would not call it choosing between the lesser of two evils because that is not my way of thinking... but... I would have to pick Giuliani out of the two if it came down to it.

hardly anything would be more ideal than hillary vs rudy. you couldnt have a more clear cut competition between fantastically good and absolutely miserable.

It would be the titanic race that never happened finally happening. It was gonna be Guiliani vs. Hillary Clinton in 2000 for New York Senate, and Guiliani would have beaten her like a rented mule. But, Rudy dropped out of the race after being diagnosed with cancer. The GOP then ran Long Island Congressman Rick Lazio, who ran a lackluster campaign, was way too conservative to win over the city, and got trounced.

I think Guiliani would be a pretty good president, but he has some issues he needs to overcome, and being socially liberal ain't the worst one. While mayor of New York, Guiliani and his wife went through an ugly divorce and he was fully open about the fact that he had taken a mistress. That's gonna cause a problem.

Some other names I'm hearing for 2008:

Republicans: John McCain, Colin Powell, Bill Frist, Jeb Bush, Elizabeth Dole, Tom Ridge, George Pataki.

Democrats: This will pivot on one of two axes; if the Democrats regain their sanity and return to the center: Evan Bayh (U.S. Senator from Indiana), Bill Richardson (former Governor of New Mexico and ambassador to UN), Gary Locke (Governor of Washington), Joe Leiberman.

If they stay to the radical Left and continue to mock and scorn normal America, look for, besides Hillary: Howard Dean, John Edwards, Ed Rendell (Governor of Pennsylvania), and I'm quite sure a few little known guys might rise in stature in the next four years and play for the Big Chair, perhaps Tennessee Congressman Harold Ford or newly elected Illinois senator Barack Obama.

The same for the GOP. Some rising stars to keep your eye on for the Republicans: Mel Martinez, newly elected Senator from Florida, Arizona junior senator John Kyl, newly elected Senator from South Dakota John Thune, now former Transportation secretary Norman Mineta, and (I kid you not) newly elected Louisiana congressman Bobby Jindal, who still really wants to be Governor and we'll see if he'll try again in 2007.

You have to be eligible to become pres to run for veep. That would (thank God) rule Arnold out. During the summer months there was some talk about Bill Clinton being Kerry's running mate. It got shot down pretty quickly.

Maybe you can answer this Martin, but wasn't Guliani a very well-liked mayor even before 9/11? I know he turned the city around with crime and cleaned it up a lot...
