in the coaches' poll we are followed by Notre Dame (4-1 vs. USC), Penn State (6-0 vs. Michigan), Texas Tech (5-0 vs. K-State), and UCLA (5-0 vs. Wazzu). Any of these teams that win this weekend could move past LSU.

I say ND has no chance. They are just being overhyped for this matchup. Mark my words, afterwards it won't be ND has been exposed.. it will be how great USC is for beating them...

Penn State should beat Michigan, and even though they are unranked, they are Michigan, and that will get Penn State enough cache to move past LSU.

Texas Tech is playing a terrible K-State team, but again, they are undefeated in (to some) a tough conference. Will it be enough to jump past LSU... I think so.

UCLA will continue to move up until they lose. The Left Coast Media wet dream is to have UCLA go to USC undefeated at the end of the year.

I think Florida and Meyer's stuff is sufficiently pumped to allow us to stay ahead of all those behind us if we win.

If we were playing Ole Miss or Vandy this week then maybe it could happen, but we are playing Florida who is ranked #11 or 12 (can't remember). We are not playing a nobody. So IMO, the only way we get jumped with a win is if ND beats USC.

Of course Notre Dame jumps LSU with a win over USC. They become the highest-ranked 1 loss team...or right behind Miami at the worst.

Of the rest of the teams, I think only Penn State would/could move ahead...but I think they'll go down this week.

Playing OSU and Michigan back to back is pretty tough, even with a "down" Michigan team. Besides, Lloyd Carr needs this win to get some heat off of him, and Penn State using those freshman has to get them sooner or later.

If Notre Dame beats USC, I think they will get at least one first place vote.

ND wins, becomes #4, USC drops to 5, LSU goes up to 7...

Agree, except USC drops to 2. The media has pumped sunshine up their asses for too long to completely remove them from #1 consideration.

USC is great cause of what they've accomplished so far.

I think Michigan has been exposed enough this season, everyone knows they aren't anything special. If we win, I don't see Penn State jumping us with a win over Michigan.

I've seen nothing in recent years that indicates that the media has anything for UCLA. In fact, I haven't seen the media have anything special for west coast teams other than USC. The so called west coast bias thing is BS in my opinion. They say the same thing about the SEC.

PSU and UND are already ahead of us in the poll that counts.

if we win, its the same old thing-we wont move up unless those above us lose, and that may not happen this week. this is more true the higher in the rankings youre talking about. besides we are many points behind PSU
