I know Broussard is coming back, but a lot of backs take 2 years to really get fully healed after tearing an ACL. With Addai and Carey gone and Vincent being somewhat injury prone and inconsistant, do you think that Hester could possibly get a shot at the HB spot?
He will be the x-factor type of player next year. He will get touches at FB, which is the most underused position in football, and he will get touches at RB. He is a great threat to have. I knew he would be special when he ran for 50 yards as a true freshman against Miss St. Yes it was Miss St. but he runs hard and is always moving forward. He has a great low center of gravity making it hard to tackle him by one guy. It will be great knowing he can play RB if need be, but it is even greater knowing we have a great running, catching, and blocking FB.
I like Hester, and I'm not trying to take ANYTHING away from his performance, but the way our line was blocking, ANYONE could have been effective... I'd definately like to see him be more active in the offense in the years to come though.
It is kind of funny how one game can really change how a player is viewed. all season everyone has been complaining about how every time Hester was in the ball game we throw him the ball and he does nothing with it. He gets a few handoffs, rolls over some thugs, and now he suddenly is a contender for a lot of PT at tailback. He definitely made a case for himself to get a few more handoffs. Who knows, AB's rehab will have a lot to do with anyone else getting in the backfield next year.
He is not going to be a starting or even a second string RB. He will be the starting FB and get carries there. I say most likely 6 or 8 carries a game. He will get most of his touches recieving out of the backfield. If he is in the game at RB then they will prob. throw a swing pass to him. When he came here Fisher said that he was going to use him as a FB that can handle the ball. We have a full stable of RB's. We are in a very good position for the future. It is a great time to be part of the Tiger nation.
I am sure Hester will be a big part of the LSU offense in some way, he's got game, attitude and talent. :geauxtige
he's been playing better all year, just not getting alot of PT. yes he missed some balls... but good to see him out there doing well. We've needed all the depth our runners have provided. Good thing we had them. I don't think he could challenge Alley, but that's just my opinion.
I agree, a healthy AB is probably tops in the SEC. Hester can't compete with that. Probably can't compete with JV carry for carry, who knows though? He showed some umph last night that makes me wonder why the hell we couldn't give him a ball or two per game.
I agree. It appears he had a lot of heart also at running back . He keeps his legs pumping when he is being tackled
