That's the best news of all. LSU's defense is guaranteed to be just as good as last year. 3/4th's of the vaunted secondary is back and Jesse Daniels will fill in fine in place of Jack Hunt.
Remember we add Mario Stevenson who is said to be a pure shut down corner from JUCO. Our secondary should be great next year.
He'll most likely take Randall "Blue" Gay's spot. Blue had a good amount of playing time and always did a good job. Plus it was always fun to yell, "You're my boy Blue!" If you've seen Old School you know what I'm talking about.
Here's one opinion...If Francis steps in, it will be because he put forth a MAMMOTH effort to keep Ronnie Prude off the field... Prude has the ability to step in and play just as well as any defensive back with the possible exception of Webster, whose will be a first round draft pick whatever year he comes out, if he's healthy. I see LaRon Landry taking over for Jack Hunt. With a year in the program to put on weight, and already being much quicker and almost as strong as Hunt, Landry is the natural choice to ascend into the position, and allow Francis, or whomever will take over Landry's role from this year past, to break in slowly at the other safety spot... Landry's been out on the field for 14 games, an entire fall, and will have an offseason, spring drills, and fall camp to have absorbed what Hunt was doing...Francis saw precious little time-though it was valuable time-this year... I see Landry moving to Hunt's old position, and possibly Daniels (as in Travis) moving back out to safety with the JUCO kid depending on the JUCO's ability... Either way, Ronnie Prude is going to be difficult to keep off the field...book it.
It's on lsusports.net now: http://www.lsusports.net/feature.html?ref=0CC316FF-FA63-56DC-CD26D2517635C288 I didn't realize his numbers were that good. To not have him on all the All American lists as a 1st teamer is ridiculous.
