Hey if you can get us 17 points I'll make peace with CC.

I'd like to meet CC in fact. In person, I think I could change his mind about things.

Maybe if I was Jon Stewert. Then it would happen......the light-bulb would go off.

I've met many "free-thinkers" though that if you literally beat them, they'll eventually get it. My wife for instance......had to whip the crap outta her but she gets it now.

In Louisiana, the state controls the price at the pumps. Until this past legislative session, there was a mandatory 6% markup for gasoline. They removed the 6% markup, but a station cannot sale gasoline below their cost. This is why all the stations sell gas for basically the same price.

Our wonderful state views selling gasoline below cost as an unfair trade practice...

You didn't even read the post obviously.

I wasn't commenting on the price of gasoline, but on the excess corporate profits that are a part of that price.

Two things are clear to me.

    1. LSUcraig works for the oil industry.

    2. Even if the cost of production has gone up, even if the cost of raw product has gone up, the profits made by the oil industry during an oil crisis go up too, over and above these expenses.

who are you to define a profit as "excess"? what % of revenue do you think is a fair profit amount? and so what if they do make massive profits?

    this article:

    http://apnews.myway.com/article/20051027/D8DGL2502.html

says that exxon made about 9 or 10 billion profit on 100 billion in revenue. is 10% too much profit according to red? is that unfair and wrong? do you think that businesses should be told what amount of profit is fair?

what % profit does red think is acceptable?

What hasn't been mentioned is that the big oik companies have a history of buying patants on alternative energy technologis, and sitting on them. This forces our continued reliance on gas.

If you would have met me about 3 years ago, there would have been no mind-changing necessary. But I'm a lot smarter, now.:hihi:
Did not know that. Very interesting, and very infuriating.:cuss:
Did know that. Known it for years, in fact. But I did not bring it up because I don't have any 'sources' to back it up, and would have been accused of a wild conspiracy theorist, as I often am.

i agree with you here, but i dont really consider it a conspiracy. patents arent secret are they? i think the patent system is really screwed up, but it is pretty complicated and i dunno what is the real deal with that.

the main thing that made me always think of you as the silly conspiracy theorist is when we talked about how bush knew sept 11th was coming but did nothing about it (i guess so he could start a war for oil). i dont like the conspiracies where the alleged bad guy is assumed to have motives that are so ridiculously devious to the point where it is just a joke.

i'm in a good mood though, so i will give you a clean slate and no longer consider you the conspiracy theory guy. everyone deserves a second chance.

you are still the personal attacks guy though.
