I've been very outspoken about Miles not getting it done against big time opponents.

I'm hear to fess up. Some of you said I wouldn't show up after the game. I'm hear and very happy I was wrong.

This was a great win for our Tigers. Paybacks are tough.

    Now game analysis.

JaMarcus was feast or famine. The guy is so talented it's downright scary. On top of it he is a solid person from most accounts. On the football side his decisions are probably going to cause him to drop in status for the NFL. I don't think he makes the best decisions. I pull for the guy because he is humble and genuine.

We had one of our better days running the ball today. I'm excited to see how Keiland Williams and Charles Scott do next year.

Our defense...The first quarter was unbelievable. It seems like the freshman exposed our pass defense a little today.

It's a great day to be a Tiger fan.

Concerning the defense, it took perfect passes on both plays. Give them credit for execution. A little disappointed on both since our safeties were actually in place to make plays on the ball.

Offensively, I thought it was our best gameplan vs an SEC road opponent this season (Auburn, Florida, Tennessee). Finally saw Williams get his carries. Finally saw Holliday do his thing as well. Makes you wonder what if.

Yeah, how about the fake screen that was a DESIGNED run play for Jarmarcus.

Today left not doubt that JR still has tendencies to revert back to poor decision making--but he did add new things to his abilities--and that was a willingness to pull the ball down and actually RUN....effectively, too!

I think it's games like this one--the ones where he shots himself in the foot by throwing an ill-advised pass that gets picked--that pretty much, IMO, get him to come back next season. (and other than us, every other team in the SEC won't be happy to see him return).

    Now that's a good post!:thumb:

I thought this was Miles best coaching performance. He made all the right calls and showed some emotions. I got the feeling he knew this was a must win for him.

Still concerned about all the penalties and turnovers. For all of JR's mistakes, I can't help but like the guy for being a gamer and never giving up. If he ever gets the mental game under control, the sky will be the limit for him.

I was a little surprised that Pelini didn't bring the heat when Crompton came in the game.

It wasn't the prettiest win, but a much needed road win against a top ten team.

I could not agree more. I think the criticism that Miles faced was healthy for him to prove to us that he could do it. I like him and I hope he stays here for a very long time but he has to know that we won't be happy with 7 and 8 win season's. He was 11-2 last year and if he wins out this year he could do the same and that is very respectable. But the big deal today was Miles' leading our team to a big win in a big game on the road. That is what winners do. Great job coach!:eek:ldskule:

Our schemes, both offensively and defensively were sound to say the least.

As for the offense, it was VERY nice to see us rack up 200 yards of rushing--and the biggest surprise was the 70+ yards JR piled up on the ground!

The Vols played their safties back all game--not allowing the long pass, and it was nice to see our offense take advantage of that in the running game. Other than 2 of JR's INT's, where he had room to run for positive yardage instead of throwing it, I thought we made the right decisions more so than not.

Defensively, we held the Vols to 248 yards of total offense and roughly 80 of those yards came on the two long TD passes--like it was said before--both were just perfectly thrown balls where we actually had LaRon in perfect position to make a play on the 2nd long toss but he just didn't time it correctly.

But, over-all, GREAT gameplanning for this game.

Couldn't agree more. The fake punt was a perfect call at a perfect time. Like you said, I loved the emotion he showed after we got shafted (again) on the muffed punt bad call.

I too wondered why we didn't blitz more with a red shirt freshman in the game, but I've learned my lesson about questioning Pelini. That man knows how to coach a defense.
