jokes Computer Rankings are jokes ...... Tennessee's rankings are higher than LSU in computer rankings ???... stupiddddddddd....
I agree. This is assenine... I thought the computers would have been smarter than the humans. I guess I was wrong. Let's see, Virginia Tech loses to West Virginia, and they justly fall down to around 20. However, they beat Miami, and BAM, they are all the way back up to 5?!! Miami loses to VT, instead of being looked at as losing to a number 20 team, computers jump VT back up to 5, and leave Miami at 2-4. Okay, so they remain overrated. Then VT loses to Pittsburgh and Miami loses to Tennessee. Instead of the computers just having Miami and VT in the wrong spot in the first place, Tennessee must be really good. <sarcasm>Let's jump them back up to the top 5 from 15-20 range. That makes sense.</sarcasm> I thought the computers would have been a little harder to fool than that. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bring back Margin of Victory, it's the only realistic way to tell the fluke wins from total dominations.
I think if you bring back Margin of Victory, you should have a Margin of Defeat. With that you will be able to weed out the clutter of 1 and 2 loss teams.
A lot of people don't seem to understand this. I get irritated when I hear people blame computers for anything. Probably because I'm a computer engineer. GIGO(garbage in = garbage out) This is due to either lazy or flat out poor programming. The inability to use margin of victory is very crippling though. Blame the "politicians" for that factor.
If the computer rankings still factored in margin of victory our overall computer rank would be 2.7! Also about the computer programs: You simply cannot determine rankings based on stats alone, no matter how good you've programmed your ranking system. It's fundamentally flawed.
I want to use "MY" computers for the Rankings that way LSU would be #2 without a doubt. After all USC lost to Cal and I'm hoping they'll have a Letdown against UCLA.
Maybe we could cap the Margin of Victory at something like 21 or 28 and make it only count against teams ranked something like 25 or better. So blowing out someone like ULM doesnt help but blowing out a better team would be worth your time.
When asked, Bob Stoops said, and I quote, "Get rid of the computers." He went on to say the Computers are useless.
