    Even Saban when he came to LSU had his if's too.

    Petrino & Delrio = Only Head coach 2 years

    Tedford = Can he recuit in the south. Would he leave Cal.

    Davis = Mentally ready

    Nolan = Never a head coach

    Miles = Average overall record

    Spurrier = Will he work hard enough.

    Price = Off the field issues.

    The bottom line is there is nobody except Bob Stoops and Pete Carroll that wouldn't have any "if's by thier names.

    Where does everybody keep coming up with the name Spurrier?

    Let's be realistic, folks. Does anybody really think that the LSU HC job is such a wonderful position, that Steve Spurrier is going to renege on a freshly signed 7-year deal w/ South Carolina before he's even held his first practice in order to come here? And would we really want him if he did?

    Not that I want Spurrier, but so what? He's only making 1 million per and realistically has no shot at a NC. LSU could offer him more money and better talent. Remember, Saban signed a 7 year 18+ million dollar contract earlier this year and didn't even fulfill a year, so contracts today mean nothing unless they have buyout clauses in them.

    It is EXTREMELY unrealistic to consider Spurrier a candidate. Geez, the ink on this guy's pact w/ SC isn't even dry yet. ONLY a million a year?
    To quote you, so what? The guy's already got more money than he could ever spend. And as for talent, I think the guy likes the idea of the challenge SC brings him. Remember, 2 months ago, this guy could have more or less picked the opening he wanted.

    Bingo. The operative phrase here is BUYOUT CLAUSE. I've heard varying accounts of what the buyout is on Spurrier's SC deal, all pretty hefty, but whatever it is, you can bet the USC administration will have plenty to say about it if Spurrier even HINTS at an interest in the LSU gig before he even coaches a game there.

    This is all so ridiculous, I can't even believe I'm arguing it. I tell ya, the expectations of some people...

    Guys, Spurrier turned DOWN more money at USC.

    Why? Because he was happy being near plenty of golf courses at a school that would not shove down his throat pressure every single year like the UF's and LSU's of the world.

    With an Augusta course near him, he is never leaving.
