Not sure I would call Davey a mobile QB. Yes, more mobile than JR, but was not a running QB like Mauck. Who was that QB at Auburn, Patrick something or other? Don't think he was mobile, but I could be wrong.

Reminds me of that old saying:
The most popular QB is the one who just left and the one waiting on the bench behind the starter.
Always found a lot of truth to that.

All three QBs mentioned were "one year wonders." But that's not all they had in common... they all won sec championships. That's the point.

I notice he didn't compare Russell to Cox or Leak, what are their numbers against the SEC top tier?

Jimbo must be doing something right to have a few QBs in the pros at one time or another and none of them were running QBs.

Winning the SECCG in the senior year underscores the need for experience being so important for QBs.

The only thing I would want for a QB coach is someone to reiterate what Jimbo says, ie get JR's attension when he throws off his back foot or takes a sack that he should not have taken. And taking those sacks are more often than not, just heart and trying to make something out of nothing.

All three of those qb's had a viable running game to help them win as well. I do agree to an extent that JR is some to blame but he has had no help with the running game because it has not shown up to big games. Part of this I blame on the coaches as well but I think JR is getting thrown under the bus a little too harshly in this article. Jason Campbell didnt even need to throw a ball with Cadillac and Ronnie. This article is like comparing apples to oreos. I guarantee you JR's numbers would be much better if we had a running game in this Big games. You put JR at Auburn when they had Cadillac and Ronnie and his numbers would be the same if not better.

What are you trying to say? We better pray he comes back next year because if he does, Preseason top 3. Mabey 1. If not, which I doubt he comes back, we screwed. All you Flynn lovers can say what you want he just wont have 3 years of starting behind him like Russell.

LSU has 3 QB's any of which could lead the team and do just fine. The article is more about wondering why Jamarcus hasn't been able to take the next step more than anything else. JR is one of the most if not THE most talented QB to step on campus, but he has a long way to go before is is a polished complete QB. I hope he comes back next year because I would really love to see what he is capable of doing when he finally puts it all together. If he does he has the potential to be the #1 overall pick, but he is definitely not there yet.

As much as I hate to say this, he's consistent.

Other than the Michigan game, he doesn't make mistakes. When you watch him, he's pretty impressive, yet he has one of the better receiving groups. But we do too, so there goes that argument...

This guy only quotes the statistics that suite his argument & ignores or downplays those that don't. What about the fact that we had no running game against Auburn? What about the fact that he threw for 250+ yards DESPITE Auburn having a few extra players (who happened to be wearing stripes). What about the fact that, due to NO fault of the offense, we were down by a few touchdowns at Florida, and were forced to throw it and Florida knew what we were going to be doing? What about 2 of the interceptions in that game not being JaMarcus' fault at all?

His progression over the past 3 years has been very impressive, and if he comes back next year, he'll be even better.
