There is a big glowing ball in the sky giving off warmth and light. Where is our resident astronomer to tell me what that is?
My hopes of a final CWS at Rosenblatt filled with traditional powers surely didn't come true. Here's the list of the teams with the most CWS wins. 1-Texas (82) 2-USC (74) 3-ASU (61) 4-Miami (47) 5-Stanford (40) 6-Oklahoma State (38) 7-LSU (35) 8-Cal St. Fullerton (34) 9-Arizona (33) 10-FSU (25) Subtract USC and Arizona out of that group and this would've been an ideal CWS for me. A rematch with Texas, Miami, or Stanford with LSU winning game #3 of the championship series and claiming lucky #7 would've been awesome.
Florida is not showing up again. They've left a lot of guys on base. They need a big comeback or they'll be the first team eliminated. I didn't want them to win the CWS but I hoped they would represent the SEC better. UF 2 FSU 7 Headed to the 8th... UPDATE: UF fails to score in the 8th. They had runners at the corners and the runner at 1st gets caught between bases. FSU adds a run to lead 8-2 Headed to the 9th... Strike out...1 down Single Single Single Double, three runs score (8-5) Single, runners at the corners HBP, bases loaded (WOW...six batters in a row) DP...game over (almost a hit) Florida is eliminated (all-time CWS 8-12)
That was a hell of an inning. Too bad they wasted so many chances this CWS. Maybe somebody besides LSU will eventually stand up and represent the conference. South Carolina came close a few times and Alabama's luck ran out in '97 when they had to play LSU.
no, and i'm not happy about it. we just got home a bit earlier. saw the last of the fu/fsu game on tv. yesterday was hell for the weather. we left this morning. when we left it was still raining and had storms since the early morning hours. all forecasts were 90% of rain throughout the day. so, of course, after we left, it cleared off for the rest of the day. im hoping it is clear for the finals since i am going back up for that series.
At lease if UCLA wins it all we can say we were knocked out by the National Champs. I'm hoping TCU can battle back though.
UCLA's pitcher last night shut down the horney toads until the 7th. TCU will have to battle back through the losers bracket.
