No surprise LSU ranks in the Top Tier, but it is surprising that we only fill Tiger Stadium to 99% capacity for the season, which is a good ways down the list (many schools fill over 100% somehow). Overall interesting article. Notice how ULM is borderline D1 AA based on attendance figures. http://www.foxsports.com/content/view?contentId=2150906
It is not suprisind at all. Have you seen the West and especially the East upper decks durind a game against Idaho or The Citidel? We would have to fill up over 100% for the rest of the games just to bring us back to the 99% they are giving us credit for. :tigerbase :tigerbase :tigerbase :tigerbase
We had a lot of no-shows in the upper decks when there were TV games. They were sell-outs, but many of the fans with poor seats stayed home and watched on TV.
The other 1% was too damned drunk to stumble in ... or too damned stupid to pass their tickets to real fans and stayed home. LSU could put another 20,000 asses in those stands ... we're hot. Too bad there's no room.
But MT, ULM has locked up D1-A status until 2014 with a "home game" against Arkansas in Little Rock's War Memorial Stadium every other year till then. So they aren't worried about dropping to 1-AA. Say what you want about it, but it's totally legal, and a smart move by ULM to stay 1-A, I might add.
A smart move would be to drop to D1-AA where they have a chance to compete. I believe ULL could make it one day on the D-1A level, but I think ULM should give up this pipedream and drop back down.
