    Ok...

As I see it now, Sherrill is out at MSU after this season. Tubby still has a chance to turn around AU (but that may not be enough to save his job). Cutcliffe is on the hot seat and without Eli next year, they're in bigger trouble. Shula has a loss to a MAC team and the Crimson Nation won't stand for more losses like that.

In the Non-SEC category, we have Mackovic at Arizona...he's done. No way to save him. If Mack Brown has another meltdown like Arkansas, he might be out the door.

Now, how do these vacancies work out? Maybe Brown moves into the SEC? Would he want to take on one of the Mississippi schools?

What do you guys think? What other jobs are in jeopardy? The ground rule is, no mention of Saban to the NFL. Let's not go there.

If Jackie lucks up and wins a game or two, he will be right back there next year. They been in the cellar for a long time. They have very low expectations at MSU.

I think this may be his swan song. Unless he turns it around and makes a play for the SEC West, he's toast, in my opinion.

I think Jackie will get atleast another year. Miss St knows they have problems, and lack of talent is the biggest one. They won't be able to hire someone better, so they might stay with the current coaching staff (they have like 5 to 6 former head coaches on staff).

Shula might have a bad year, but Alabama is running out of choices . . . so they might be stuck with him atleast 3 seasons (good or bad).

AU and Ole Miss is anyone's guess . . . but I would have to think Tubby is on a hotter seat right now.

Mack might be leaving Texas if things head south for the rest of the season, but if I an AD at an SEC school, I wouldn't hire Mack. The knock on him is that his teams play soft football, and that is not the kind of change SEC schools want to turn to.

We are very lucky to have landed Saban. Anyone else, and who knows where we are right now.

    Willingham at Notre Dame too.

Mack Brown will not move to any Mississippi school ever. Period. Non-issue. They don't have the resources, facilities, tradition, or recruiting area to be able to provide him with the players needed.

Those teams are on the downslide, my friend. Ole Miss took a talented quarterback and rode him to...what? His biggest win in his career so far has been a victory over Nebraska in last year's Independence Bowl to finish 8-6. It's a sorry commentary when the most heralded recruit since Archie Manning has so little surounding supporting cast that he can win a mere 8 games in his best season.

No way Mack Brown takes over a school like Ole Miss or Moo U. Just not the prestige or stadium revenue, etc., available to pay him and a competent corp of assistants.

Now, I could envision him taking over Auburn. I could see it, that is, if this whole paying players scandal hadn't broken recently. Auburn won't fire Tubby, no matter the meltdown, because they're afraid they'll run into another Fifthchoiceione who comes in facing the scythe of the grim reaper talking about long term commitments, and then leaves after his first spat of success on the first train smoking...They'll keep Tubby if it looks to turn ugly, because of the continuity, and because he had a modicum of success while at the helm of Ole Miss during their probationary years.

So, I don't see Mack taking over anywhere...Unless Florida gets jumpy, which is a very real possibility, and a very SCARY thought...I'm almost nervous I let that thought pattern follow itself to the logical conclusion...

Matter of fact, forget I ever said that Mack Brown would be a good hire to UF...

Sherrill has done OK for State, for what he costs them. He makes less than $600,000 I hear. State doesn't have the enrollment, fan support, or cash to pony up the $1.5 million it would take to get a top coach. They may keep him a while until they can find an up-and-coming young coach they can afford. Which is why we have to pay Jimbo Fisher what he is worth in order to keep him a few more years.

Mack Brown will retire from Texas. Probably when he decides to. Only A&M would be stupid enough to fire a coach with his record.

Actually, despite his success, Brown has never won a conference championship. So his coming to the SEC, if it happened, might not be too scary.

No may Mack goes to Mississippi...

IF (and I believe it to be a huge IF) Mack were to be spent packing, I feel that he would quit coaching rather than go to any city that wasn't a vibrant urban community. Mack's wife is a real estate hotshot. Her income probably rivals his at his last two stops (Austin and NO Carolina). I 'd say chances are better of him going back to Tulane than setting up in Starkvegas.
