LSU comes in at #2. Re: Coaches Poll Out I don't quite disagree with the teams listed (w/ one exception), the order I have a problem with. Florida at 3? I don't disagree with them being in the top 10 based on last year alone, but I see them more along the lines of #9 or #10. On the flip side, seeing where they have Va. Tech confuses me. If it were me, I'd flip Va. Tech and Florida. I wouldn't have Michigan in the top 10, but I would have Georgia. I think they are in a very favorable position for another BCS run.
Re: Coaches Poll Out I agree on Fla. It's "previous year's champ" syndrome. LSU got a high (top 5) rating in 2004 pre season that I did not think we deserved because of our weakness at QB, which plagued us that season. Fla. does not deserve #3.
Re: Coaches Poll Out I can't attribute those first-place votes to Florida as anything but "symbolic" votes, a tip of the hat of sorts to the last champion. Since who would be #1 in the poll was never in question, I'm sure that had something to do with it...but, who cares? The Tigers are slotted where we want 'em. No hoping and praying that someone else slips up, someone else does or does not do what needs to be done---just win, baby!!:crystal:
Re: Coaches Poll Out I disagree. Not necessarily because I believe Florida is good enough to be number 3, but there's nothing wrong with putting the defending champ in the Top 5 to start the season. If they are as bad as you believe they are, then they'll drop during the season and all will work itself out. However, if Florida were to go unbeaten this year, would it be fair to them to be out of the National Championship because USC and Texas went unbeaten too?
Only in the final vote I also enjoy seeing Duke with a vote every preseason. A nice gesture by Spurrier.
