How has he been doing the last couple of years? I haven't been able to catch much Tiger basketball here in North Texas. The only players that I remember playing is Temple, Dupree, and Bright and I believe they are gone now. Who is playing in their slots? What do the starting five look like? I don't doubt Brady's recruiting skills but we had a good recruiter in Dale Brown too. I was severely disappointed in his coaching skills when LSU played Wis. in the NCAA tournament a couple of years ago when we had Stro. Has he got any better? I have not been impressed with what I have seen. On folks close to the scene have any opinions? After the hell Nolan Richardson put us thru with Mayberry and Day all those years and beyond I wouldn't mind giving him a shot.
Last time I checked Nolan Richardson had more final four appearances and national title(s) than any LSU coach. Just trying to get a response since LSU basketball gets no play on this board. It did the trick, huh? Or should I say UH HUH. Paul P, North Texas means about 15 minutes from the Oklahoma border. So it's not a rock it's a tumbleweed! What kind of fabulous LSU coverage do you get in Tenn.? Since, its in the SEC I'd guess you get a helluva lot more than me. Texas Tigers can give testimonial to the fabulous coverage we get in the Dallas Morning News. Nothing but big 12 and cowboys here podnuh!
texascajun, this board gets little LSU basketball talk in late July, since everyone is anticipating the football season. Come back in January for plenty of basketball talk. As for coverage, you can read all you want on the internet. I only got to see a few games up here in Chicagoland, but if you want to keep up with any LSU sport, the internet allows you to do so. And, no comment on Nolan. I don't think anything needs to be said.
Well, Brady had some struggles last season, but was able to pull together a nice run at the end and get into the NCAA tourney. Didn't last long, but the team really came together well in the face of a lot of criticism. As for recruiting, a consensus #1 recruiting class right off probation shows that he can recruit with the best of them. Lastly, I echo SoLA - I live in Houston and don't get local coverage of the Tigers, even when playing Texas last season. Just have to get on the Net and catch up....
Not that I'd actually think that Nolan would be a good fit. Just a commentary on how lackluster LSU basketball (with the exception of Stro) has been the last decade. What year did Shaq turn pro due to the Carlos Groves fiasco? No doubt, H2O. Finding LSU coverage in Texas is finding a two sentence game synopsis every six months.
I think that most Tiger fans would rather see Tommy Tubberville coach our basketball team and stomp on the eye of the Tiger before each game than have Nolan Richardson ever step foot on our court. Check out some newspaper archives from Arkansas newspapers from around the time he was canned... The guy is looney.
My comment was in response to your suggestion to give N. Richardson a shot to coach our beloved basketball team. Only an LSU fan that has been living under a rock, or between tumble weeds, would suggest something so absurd. Do you get ESPN or maybe a newspaper around those tumble weeds? BTW, what does LSU coverage have to do with knowing N. Richardson is 'bad news'?
