So we want to open our season against USC after they play a game against the Hokies? Not sure that would bode well for us.

Of course, nobody really wants to play us anyway.

better yet, why don't we play USC in the kickoff classic. That way we could kill two birds with one stone. Beat an overated USC team and pay back Va Tech for cancelling their game with us.

I was under the impression that LSU-Oregon State was promised to be a night game. Does ABC do night games that aren't Bowls?

Yes, ABC does night games. Notre Dame and Michigan State in 98 was a night game over labor day weekend. They have done Notre Dame and USC at night when they play at the collesium.

I think the 2002 USC-Auburn game in Los Angeles was at night, too.

ABC usually puts a college game in the MNF slot on Labor day because the pros don't start until the next week, and they have all finished their preseason games by then. I would expect that if the BYU-ND game ends up happening in Provo, that would be the time slot. In 2002, the ND-Maryland game was on Sat night of Labor Day weekend, we played Va Tech on Sun afternoon and Auburn played at USC on Monday night, with all the games broadcast on ABC. CBS showed the USC at Auburn game in primetime last year on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, but USC is in a major market.

I figure the OSU game will be on ESPN, because Oregon doesn't constitute a large enough market to generate the national interest to get the networks here. Not sure what CBS will do, since they are rather inconsistent in choosing what to show that weekend. That is the first weekend of the US Tennis Open, which they always show.
