I see so called experts saying he would be an early draft pick but would he benifit from another year as a Tiger? Do you take the money and run after a good year and not risk injury or an off year? IMO I think he would be better off staying because of the increased exposure LSU should get next year and the great season they should have but I am selfish and want all of our great players to use up all of theri eligibility. What is the opinion of the board? Should he go or stay for one more and what is the probability of him going? I think 70%-30% he stays.
Saban knows several of the NFL talent scouts. At the end of the season, Saban will meet with any player who is considering his options and let them know what his opinion is. Go back to Trev Faulk who didn't listen to Saban. Rumors were early rounder. Didn't get drafted. Saban is in the know and will continue to coach his players so that they are prepared to make an informed decision regarding their future. Of course, with the NCAA about to hammer grad rates among football players, that has got to be in the back of his mind. Last thing I saw was LSU with 40% rate. Of course, that is likely to improve because of things like the academic center for athletes.
It's a tossup. If he stays he will be a first team All American next year and a possible Biletnikof trophy candidate. Would be a first-round pick next year. If he stays, he gets more LSU status and records, national honors, and more NFL money in the long run. If he goes, he could be an immediate second-round pick and eliminate the possiblity of a major injury in his senior year. If he goes he gets less NFL money but he gets it quicker. He also gets the security of an NFL signing bonus without risking further unpaid injury in college. He doesn't come from an impoverished family and doesn't really have a critical need for the cash. I think risking a career-ending injury will be a serious consideration for Clayton, though.
he said he was staying when he released a statement a couple weeks ago. I think he should stay but take out an insurance policy just in case. if he stays and has a good year he will be a top 10 pick. as far as grad rates go they are total crap. they count people who leave early for the nfl, pepole who transfer, people who decide to just focus on academics and quit, and they count people who take 5 years to grad all against the school. if they want to use them they need to change the rules.
I think he should stay, hes had a great year as a team player really, and IMO not good enough stats this year to go early. Dont you think so too?
I have seen this brought up continually on this site... Treverance Faulk was going to leave whether he was ready or not, whether Saban gave him good advice or not... Treverance Faulk couldn't coexist at LSU with Nick Saban. They did not get along, and Faulk did NOT enjoy the thought of playing for Saban. Saban let the pros know about the situation, and that's why he got frozen out in the draft... But, make no mistake about it...Trev didn't leave because he, "thought he was ready." Treverance Faulk left LSU because he and Nick Saban were like whiskey and wine...or Quaker State and Evian...
GxLSU1...I have a few friends on the team, and if you listen to Richard Condon, you'd have heard it broadcast on local/regional radio when Trev first left... He was asked point blank, and answered point blank... I've said this so many times I'm blue in the face, but Faulk was so disenchanted with his junior year he resinged his team captaincy 4 times...Only to be talked back out of it by friends/players/coaches... You can scoff, or you can agree...It makes me no nevermind...But, I've never gotten my chonnies off by making up idiotic banter about things of this nature... I wouldn't conjure it up out of the blue, that's for damn sure...
Yeah, I'd be interested to know if thats true. On the subject of Clayton, I definately think he should stay. Sure, while he could potentially be a first round draft pick, I think with Devery leaving he means a whole lot more to the offense. I can only imagine the type of year he is going to have next year, especially with Mauck getting better and/or JaMarcuss coming in.
I'd like him to stay. I'm against underclassmen leaving early no matter how good they are, unless they could be drafted in the top 10.
