33 Players to watch ... 27 scholarships to give

Wide Receiver--->LSU to sign (3) ... Watson, Doucet and Burks. Carter won't come to LSU if Doucet signs.

    Jerald Watson------------------verbal to (LSU)
    Early Doucet--------------------(LSU), Miami
    Xavier Carter-------------------watching Doucet, Miami, FLA
    Tony Burks----------------------(LSU=50/50), Ole Miss

Running Backs--->LSU to sign (2) ... Lucas and one of either Hester & Holbert.

    Jay Lucas------------------------(LSU), FSU
    Jacob Hester--------------------OU, Miami, LSU
    David Holbert-------------------TN, LSU

Offensive Line/Tight End--->LSU to sign (6) ... Cole, Helms, Holmes, Jackson, Miller and most likely Herman Johnson (50/50).

    Mit Cole---------------------------verbal to (LSU)
    Brett Helms----------------------verbal to (LSU)
    Max Holmes----------------------verbal to (LSU)
    Tyson Jackson-------------------verbal to (LSU)
    Ryan Miller------------------------verbal to (LSU)
    Herman Johnson----------------(LSU=50/50), OKLA
    Calvin Darity----------------------FSU, TN, LSU

Defensive Line--->LSU to sign (5) ... Dorsey, Wroten, Alexander & Favorite, and maybe Richard.

    Darryl Richard-------------------Stanford, LSU, ND
    Xavier Mitchell-------------------TN, LSU, Ole Miss

Linebackers--->LSU to sign (4) Kuale, Johnson, Stoltz and one of Sanders and Thaxton, both late visits).

    E.J. Kuale-------------------------signed by LSU (JC)
    Quinn Johnson------------------verbal to (LSU)
    Matt Stoltz-----------------------verbal to (LSU)
    Luke Sanders--------------------LSU, OK
    Jae Thaxton----------------------FSU, UGA, Miami, LSU

Secondary--->LSU to sign (7) Steltz, Jackson, Stevenson, Jack, and Taylor. Tony Bell and Walker will be late visits and LSU's chances with both are good.

    Craig Steltz------------------------verbal to (LSU)
    Chevis Jackson-------------------verbal to (LSU)
    Mario Stevenson-----------------signed with LSU
    Jeffery Jack------------------------verbal to (LSU)
    S Curtis Taylor--------------------verbal to (LSU)
    Tony Bell---------------------------(LSU), GA
    Marcus Walker--------------------(LSU), OK
    Simeon Castille--------------------AL, AU, LSU

The Sugar Bowl has a great importance this year in Recruiting.
Herman Johnson, Marcus Walker, Luke Sanders and Jacob Hester will probably come to LSU with a big win over OK. Nick has been cherry-picking in Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi and Texas. With a NC win, LSU will start doing much better in Texas, GA & FLA.

Ramah...I have heard from a good inside source that Xavier Carter doesn't care who signs with LSU...

I have also seen Jerald Watson play this season...and he's not much taller than Skyler Green, and not as fast...You may know something I don't, but this Carter kid is a much higher touted player than Watson...

I have heard that Doucet's a lock, and that Carter is close...I don't think Watson's future is at wideout...We have too many guys already on campus either playing or waiting in the wings as a redshirt for Watson to every truly see any PT there...

They may be telling him he will be GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY to play, but I doubt the kid cracks the depth chart...

    Jerald Watson is 5'11" 205 and runs a 4.35 40

Skyler Green is 5'10" 190 and im sure he runs right around there.

if Skyler is faster than Jerald Watson....that wouldnt make Watson slow...it would make Skyler FREAKIN FAST

Jerald will be running for good ole pat....the boy aint slow

but i agree that Carter is the better "prospect"...i say prospect...because obviously we dont know how either will turn out...but yes...Carter has the size and speed advantage over Watson.

just dont take anything from JW...he's a player

Not saying he's not a player...far from that...The kid has talent, but I'm thinking he could be a great safety or corner for LSU...

With Amp Hill, Dwayne Bowe, Craig Davis, Skyler Green, Michael Clayton and Early Doucet, that's 6 guys ahead of him...We rarely go 4 wides anymore, so that means that he'd be-at best-coming in at 3rd string at one of the wideout spots...

We lose Jack Hunt, Randall Gay, and perhaps Corey Webster next year...and I'm guessing we'll have the horses, but could use Watson as a guy who could learn the position over the next year with a great weight training in the offseason...He could be an X-factor for LSU's defense if he could keep a redshirt on next season and train at DB...

    Just my $0.02...

Lifer, thanks for reminding me on those 2. So many kids with bad grades and low cores, this will reduce the overall list we take.

Eleven, as for Watson, the good folks watching him have told me he's up to ... 215 pounds now and a lot stronger ... with that same low 4.35 speed. Carter's height advantage is 3+ inches. Watson now outweighs Carter by at least 25 lbs. You gotta play Watson at running back right? Who sits on the bench? Still think he'll see time at WR & Utility in the end ... could you imagine another Josh Reed. My friends watching him see the RB. Man, what a great problem to have. Put him in the gumbo, he'll pop up somewhere. Again, if we do "GET CARTER" there will be an NCAA investigation. And if you think USC's whining was a lot ... you ain't heard nothing yet;)
