Yes, you did call Christians stupid, just not directly. That appears to be the M.O. Say anything as long as the "I didn't say anyone was stupid" provision is in effect. C'mon Martin...grow a set, don't distance yourself from your argument. If you think someone's stupid then say so. Once again Martin, at the risk of sounding "incredibly stupid", what's your viewpoint? Have you none?
it isnt allowed. and even if it was it would be rude. plus plenty of christians are smarter than both of us. regarding religion, i dont really have a viewpoint. i have never really thought about it much. nobody has any clue what i think, certainly not me. i am surely not the most outspoken and opinionated person i have ever met on the subject. yes we have. people want to be offended. i try not to do em that favor, but it can be difficult.
martin is right. This is a forum for political discussion, not for personal insults. The idea is to attack the message, not the messenger. It is allowed in FSA to criticise a poster's statements or some ideology being discussed, even to call it stupid, idiotic, moronic, asinine, or foolish. It may be a childishly lame response, but it is not a personal insult. What Brett forbids is personal attacks including personal insults. It is not OK to call someone an idiot, moron, ass****, fool or other obvious personal affronts. The mods will delete them when we see them. martin is just particularly good at attacking one's arguments and making them feel insulted on behalf of their position. Better to just attack the weak spots in his lecture (and they are there) than to personally insult him for being clever and articulate. He just has an uncommon talent for being rude without actually being abusive.
It is not clever or articulate to disguise a personal attack behind a supposed attack on one's position. Just because someone can repeatedly call a statement stupid (implying that the poster is stupid while never actually stating the obvious), it doesn't make it acceptable. I'm simply saying that there are ways to disagree, after all this is the FSA...calling names isn't one.
i am kinda tired of going over this. i do not mean to call anyone names, and if i do, it is a mistake on my part. i like christians, and they are not all stupid. my dad, who is the best person in the world, is christian. so is my whole family except my mom. so are lots of people i wish i could be like. i think christians are great. i think christianity (and all religion) is terrible and i hate it. stop trying so hard to get offended, this is supposed to be FSA. that is all.
