I love competition and I love tests. I didn't grow up with pickups so I don't fall into any particular camp of truck brand loyalty. My daddy drove this or that kind of stuff. I just happen to run across this series of tests Chevy is running and they are interesting to watch. Chevy Silverado HD2HD | Pickup Truck Comparison | Chevrolet.com Obviously it's a Chevy marketing campaign but they are interesting none the less. I've never been a GM fan but maybe they've improved on some things. I noticed they don't compare Toyotas. Either they feel Toyota isn't a threat or Toyota trucks held their own enough in private testing that Chevy just left them out. Never know. I think Ford's look the best and have the best interiors, fit and finish, etc. but Chevy owns them in these tests. Looks like Ford is going to have to up their game. Here are some of the videos. I have a runaway Toyota and love it (Crewmax). Blue and looks like this. Before that I had 3/4 ton Chevy's and never had any problems with them either. We had 300 head of cattle and I hauled with them pretty much. I also hunted a lot more back then and sometimes drove them in pretty tough conditions.
I've seen those. That's why I'm curious why Chevy didn't use them in the tests. I can't imagine that Chevy didn't test them along with the Fords and Rams before they brought in the independent testing company. My guess is that the Toyotas did well enough in their tests that it wouldn't make sense to use them in the public testing marketing campaign. I think that if the Toyotas would have done poorly they wouldn't have thought twice about using them in the campaign.
I recently purchased a new SUV. (sorry manmade global warming kooks...start riding your bike!) Before dropping $30-40K I reveiwed many categories to find the best vehicle to suit my needs. I usually do this but added a new column this time. My decision was weighted heavily by the bailouts and UAW. I quickly scratched GM products from my list. I eventually went with Toyota. That's my first non-American car but probably won't be my last. The president who claimed he wasn't elected to run car companies did exactly that when he took office. His lie led to more wasted TARP funds. Let GM fold if they can't run their operation. Where's the outcry from the "Occupy" crowd against the greedy UAW ruining American jobs? Buy Toyota, Ford, or Dodge. Screw GM!
I don't know how true it is but years back I read it doesn't really matter cause most stock in the "American" companies is bought by foreigners. Anyone know how much this actually is the case?
Almost all of my Toyota SUV was made in America by Americans but not by the United Auto Workers Union...aka: politically connected overpaid slugs. I prefer to support hard-working Americans over those who prefer to extort money.
I have a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport 4 door with the Hemi and all black. Love it. Flat out love it. Tons of ass int he motor, tows my boat like nothing, luxury inside with GPS and Bose sound, heated and cooled seats. Best vehicle I have ever owned (Although I really miss my Tahoe, that was probably my favorite vehicle) Awesome... I highly recommend !!!. This is the one I have. Awesome
2011 F150 King Ranch here. Love it. The interior and electronics are far better than the others mentioned. I've driven a Toyota Tundra CrewMax as well. Probably best value. GM is more for work. Dodge is for hauling.
