I'm sure the gun control lobby is in scramble mode to get on top of this, probably a damned democrat anyway...

The man shot was a prominent Republican in Texas. I could only imagine the hoopla if the man would've turned out to be critical of Bush.

Michael Moore has already started writing the screenplay, tentatively titled "Accident's Ass". Will interview people who witnessed tension between the two throughout the years. In the end, people will realize what bloodthirsty killer's Cheney and Bush are.

Say what you will, but there is never an excuse for shooting another member of your party accidentally while hunting. If you don't know where that guy is, you don't shoot.

Cheney today looks like a supreme bozo.

The TV this morning said that Cheney did not permit himself to be interviewed by the deputies until the next day, but they did say that there was no signs of alcohol being involved. Cheney did have his out-of-state hunting license but faces a fine for not having the $9.00 Quail stamp.

There is no stamp required for shooting millionaire lawyers, no limit, and no season. Apparently they are considered to be varmints.

i just listened to the slate daily podcast on the hunting accident, and they (slate is relatively liberal) laid most of the blame on the guy who got shot.

plus your absolute statement using the word "never" is ridiculous, it just isnt possible to always know where everyone is. sometimes (and i am not saying in this case, just refuting your silly absolute) the guy getting in the line of fire has to be blamed.

man, we go to some silly extremes to taunt or defend peeps based on the pollitical affiliations dont we?

And what are you doing? Defending an irresponsible hunter because of his political affiliations. You've never been hunting in your life, have you, mahtin?

A professional hunting guide on the morning news said it best. "It is smart and a courtesy to speak to others in your party when you are changing your position, but it is the shooters responsibility to know where the members of his party are and not to shoot them. Any shooter who is not on the end of the line must only shoot in his zone, in front, and never follow a bird onto the flanks of the hunting party".

It is impossible to defend Cheney on this one. The victim may have been foolish to assume that Cheney knew where he was, but Cheney was clearly responsible.
