www.collegefootballnews.com has four writers picking the most overrated team for 2005. The four teams picked were Ohio State, Michigan, Iowa, and Florida State. Three from the Big Ten. I guess that means the league's a toss-up this year and the writers are nervously hedging their bets... or Purdue will win the "crown" and they'll all be right. Here's what I don't get... How does Florida get off so easy: 1) They were 8-5 in 2003 and 7-5 in 2004. 2) They have a QB who is in the top ten Heisman Hopefuls and he's 15-10 as a starter. He's played in two bowl games and lost them both. 3) Their woeful defense is now missing Channing Crowder. 4) They have a new coach, new assistants, and a new system. Yet, the Gators are picked to challenge UT for the east and have been ranked as high as 8th. I can only assume Urban Meyer must be Knute Rockne reincarnated. Is this guy really that good??
FSU is def. an over-rated team with no QB and a team that just seems to be falling apart. Michigan and OSU I agree with.....2 losses at least for both. Iowa will be good but I don't see them challenging for the Rose Bowl either. As for UF, they are over-rated but Meyer will be fine for them. He will keep them at least winning 8 games per year.
Here's why UF gets off easy: "Trick Question. What's the difference between Urban Meyer and God?" "Urban Meyer IS GOD!" :dis:
I really dont get why Tennessee is so highly ranked.. someone explain it to me? seriously, no sarcasm intended, i want to know...
I've been asking that question since joining the forum. That Cotton bowl win can not make up for how bad and damned lucky they were the last 2 months of the season. Vandy and Kentucky played toe-to-toe with them for 4 quarters.
They pick 3 teams from the same conference and hope one of them sweeps the other two. That way there is a guarantee one of the three will have 2 losses and a darn good chance the other one will. Like tOSU losing to Texas.
I think Iowa ranks pretty high up there as far as overrated. They lost their starting QB and whenever a team loses someone from such a critical position like QB, they are bound to have a big let down. BUT, the most overrated team is Auburn. They lost Campbell, Williams, Brown, and others. How can they possibly win?
