Has anyone been to Carrabba's in Baton Rouge on Corporate Blvd.? We've been to this Italian restaurant several times already and like it. It is somewhat different from the other Italian restaurants in the city. They are part of what seems like a successful chain with restaurants in the southern states from Texas all the way to Florida. The same mother company also owns Bonefish (which is coming to BR) and Fleming's. They have great tasting soups, good mussels from the Canadian NE, excellent fish. Haven't tried the beef, but supposedly good. Worth a try. ________ Ipad guides
Went two weeks ago Heard from a friend that he heard it was the best but we were sorely disappointed. It's like a half-step above Olive Garden....if that's the kind of medium priced, driven to the place in the back of an 18-wheeler food you like, then it's good. But Ruffinos or the Village is much better. Pricier but better. If I wanted inexpensive italian, then I'd choose Pasta Garden off Sherwood.
I would say its considerably better than Olive Garden and Macaroni Grill. For what you will pay at Carrabba's, you can easily get better italian at DiGuilio Bros. or Nino's, and for a little more you can go to Ruffino's as LsuCraig indicated.
Vince's Italian Cuisine of New Orleans on Highland Road in Baton Rouge is great too. I love the lasagna at Nino's.
Haven't been to Carrabba's yet, but my favorite Italian in BR is still Gino's on Bennington, right off of College Dr.
Didn't mean to leave out Vincent's. I heard they were moving to where they were a little more visable. Hopefully the intimacy of the place doesn't change in the new locale. I always enjoyed Vincent's in NO, and pop in every now and again for a change of pace. IMO, Nino's is the BEST italian in BR. It is consistently very good. Give it a shot if you haven't been. I doubt you'll be disappointed. Also, they have an extensive wine list, with some very nice selections.
Digullio Bros and Gino's are the best italian resturants in Baton Rouge. I commute to New York about once a month and both those resturants simulate the establishments in Little Italy.
