Call this the canary in the coal mine, as message board rumor makes its way into "real" journalism as legit speculation. Word is Coach Carr is going to bow out after 2007.

Though technically not an LSU story, I've posted it here for, well, pretty obvious reasons.

You gotta think, especially after a national title win, that the pull internally on Leslie to go home to Ann Arbor will be very, very hard to resist. Will we see the white trucker hat trolling the sideline in '08...with a maize-colored "M" logo on it?

Have you been reading wearesc.com or something?

I don't think we'll see Les go just yet. He may eventually, but I don't think for at least two-three years.

I have no idea what your comment means, but I think blowing this off as a possibility is silly.

Michigan is the winningest program in college football history, Les went to school there, played there, and coached there for many years, plus it's a very high profile job that has very low turnover (3 coaches in the past 38 years).

Given that level of stability and his very high profile current job, Les would be stupid not to jump ship to Michigan if that's what he's always hoped to do someday.

Odds are, he may never get the chance again. To pretend that it's not an option, should Carr retire this year, is kinda delusional. On the other hand, if he stays put, he's going to stay put for the long haul (as long as he wins, of course).

Wearesc had a thread started that said the same thing earlier today. Both tiga and I blew the poster off.

I understand it's a high profile job, but at the same time he has a chance to create his own history here in a program that loves him and is willing to give him anything at this point. Win a NCG, and LSU is his forever. Like I said, I doubt that if the job came up tomorrow, he would take it.

Then again, I've seen stranger things, so I may end up eating my own words. If that's the case, I'll take my crow in some boudin instead of raw, if you can.
