This may come as a shock, but the gulf coast of Alabama is not big on Mexican food. :wink:

It's a staple at ALL tailgates out here, a very common BBQ item and party food. Here's a link with prep info and bit of history. Couldn't imagine doing without carne asada and a Cadilac margarita during the summer.
