and, much to most of you all's dismay, I agree with him. feel free to bash away (I know Claire already has got his 2nd red dot ready for me), but Dubois makes a strong argument many of us are just not willing to admit or accept. http://www.2theadvocate.com/stories/090505/lsu_dubois001.shtml
As I was reading that, I tried to come up with a credible argument against what Dubois is saying. I couldn't.
I would think that Shreveport is the best option. It's in Louisiana, it's far enough removed from the impacted area and the stadium is relatively large.
If it is moved, it would make the most sense to be played in either Shreveport or Reliant Staudium. I would like Reliant best as it holds more people. However, I think there is a good chance it will be played in Baton Rouge unless things get worse this week as far as the refugees go. I just thought Dubois made same very strong points in this article some of us might have never thought about. As fans, we need to be ready for anything and not bitch and complain should a decision be made not to play at Tiger Stadium.
Dubois certainly has thought it out better than I have. I'm glad the AD and chancellor have waited to see how the operation has progressed, however. The situation is improving rapidly on campus. The big staging area in the parking lot south of the stadium is gone. The FEMA and NGA mapping teams that hve been domiciled here in my building have relocated to Jefferson Parish. There are far, far fewer helicopters coming into Bernie Moore. With the New Orleans Airport now taking aircraft for medical evacuees, triage is going on there. The PMAC will no longer be needed soon. But probably not soon enough.
Carl D. makes a compelling case. I'm not there, so I have to assume his facts about the status at PMAC are correct, and if so, he wins. I said earlier I thought the game should be played. Where is debatable at this time. I would prefer a La. location, Shreveport is ok. Reliant Arena has evacuees in it, lot of them (thousands). I want to put in a plug for the generosity of Houstonians. They have been great in every disaster around the world since I moved here in '87 (casualty of the oil patch downturn, ex McDermott NO). These folks in Houston are giving money, clothes, trucks of water from churches, food, you name it. They showed some of the sr. citizens placed into public housing, new apartments, and the people BEEMED, very grateful to Houston. The volunteers at the Astrodome have been great by all accounts. There is a parking lot, you can show up, go to a location in the dome and be assigned a job for the day, and many people have responded and volunteer day after day. My son has 200 new students at his high school of 4,000, evacuess from La. They were crowded before. I'm proud of my adopted city. My sister in law from NO is now living with me, probably till Christmas at least. She had an apartment about a mile from City Park, and she assumes it got water based on pictures of the stadium. Family in Mandeville all came out fine, one hole in a roof from a pine tree limb, not major.
Thanks for the update Red. Sounds much better. I live in Longview, TX. I was talking to my brother and we decided we would come to the game if in BR. We would not tail gate and try to find a place to help in BR. I hope it can be played in BR but the relieve efforts have to gone or almost gone.:usaflagwa
Shreveport gets my vote if they move it. There are Tiger fans up there and they could fill the stadium. I would go to Shreveport if gas is available.
