For all the bad news we get from Louisiana politics...it's great to see a new face representing Louisiana. Too many people around the country identify us with Nagin, Jefferson, Edith Bunker Blanco, Morial, Edwards, and the Landrieu family. Hopefully he'll make some positive changes before a racially-motivated, "grass roots" effort will occur to replace him next election. Kick some ass Cao! Show the country we're not a bunch of dumbass losers like the politicians listed above!
I agree. It is very nice to see a new face, especially from New Orleans. Good luck to him getting into the Congressional Black Caucus like he is attempting to do.
He is trying to make that case that over 50% of the people that he represents are black, so therefore he should be a member of the caucus. http://www.nola.com/news/t-p/index.ssf?/base/news-0/1229667689263810.xml&coll=1
I think it's great. If he does a good job there's hope that some may realize that you don't have to be black and/or democrat to represent people of color. Unfortunately each time a non-black member of the city council questions or opposes Ray Nagin, they're automatically considered racist or against the black community. It's sad but many residents in New Orleans believe Nagin, Jefferson, Morial and others can do no wrong while anyone not considered part of their "community" can do nothing right. Now we know why the city is so screwed up. :dis:
