If any of you don't know, I work in a high-scale restaurant where there are a lot of Tulane fans. Over-hearing conversations, all I hear is that Rick Jones is a "terrible" coach! Give me a frickin' break! Rick Jones is one of the 5 or 10 best college baseball coaches still coaching. I can not stand how the "fair-weather" Toolame fans' logic works, Jesus, I'd be more than happy to have Rick Jones! I'm not saying I hate Smoke, but could you imagine how the Tulane fans would cry if HE was their coach??? Yeah, where I work we have a huge Tulame fan who is a season ticket holder for football,basketball, and baseball. Yesterday he was going off on Rick and said he was the reason they lost and that he wasn't a very good coach...... :dis: It's funny but the only sport they can compeat in and have had success in, and they are upset with the coach..... :rofl:
I don't know why that should surprise anyone. It's the nature of fandom. We see it here all the time.
Those were probably band wagoner's. The Tulane fans I know still think highly of Jones. You have that at any school. Give em a few months and they will be after Scelfo.
I have been told this comment by MANY Tulane fans. Love/Hate relationship. During the Cal St. Fullerton/Tulane series at Tulane....when they were losing the 2nd game....several fans started yelling at Jones about leaving Tulane before others calmed them down....
Jones has his share of detractors. Athletic bucks are very tight at U Pond Scum and many see him as wanting a disproportionate amount of money for baseball. The new basketball coach was promised Fogelman makeover, Cellphone wants to double the recruiting budget, and they have expanded their Title IX sports. Those few that are funding the Wave athletic department find Jones like a crack addict, always wanting more.
well when you go wire-to-wire ranked #1 with your most talented team in school history then the #1 seed in Eauxmaha trying to make your mark with big brother up the road out of your hair for once.... and its the only sport your school really has.... and all this false sense of security builds from playing division 2 CUSA padding your record. and you win 1 game only again....and look like fools for talking smack about how you're gonna win it all finally. well this will be the end result.
where you work? I used to work at bravo on st. charles. used to be the on location spot of the rick jones coaches show...
