I am just curious who will win in the west. I am not saying this to provoke anything, but both teams have looked tough. The west is usually a wide open race. Texas to me has always been over-rated, but the hogs still handled them nicely.. LSU did well against the poodles, I am predicting a huge game for both programs... Any thoughts?? One thing to fuel the fire, (but not to piss anyone off) LSU has a history of folding down the stretch... It has looked like in recent years (for the most part) ya'll have put that behind you.. If both teams show up to play (LSU and HOGS) who wins???
Frankly, I think any of the top four teams in the West (LSU, Ark, AU, and Ala.) are legitimately capable of beating each other. If LSU and Arky were playing this weekend, I'd have to go with LSU because I still think Arkansas needs to prove it can pass consistently. Texas is not a physical team which plays to Arkansas' strength. They won't have that luxury against LSU.
I agree with Titan. Any of the teams in the west can win on any given day. The answer to your question is yes we can beat them. And yes they can beat us!!! This is college football where anything can happen!!!!
Evidence? One season does not a history make. Sorry, that sounded like Yoda. Last year, LSU lost their quarterback at mid season and suffered four late losses with a green QB. You can't count on that happening again. Even if it does, the backup QB is no longer green. LSU had a number of losing seasons in the 90's under Dinardo, Hallman and Archer, but they were bad from start to finish, not late collapses. In any case, it is foolish to consider any "history" before Nick's arrival in 2000. It just doesn't have any significance. Arkansas is going to have its hands full with this Tiger team.
Yeh the year before LSU started Slow and proceeded to stomp its way through the SEC and eventually the #7 team and Big 10 champ... LSU started 4-3 and finished almost in the top 5 with an SEC title and several broken records in its wake. Since Saban arrived actually every year they got stronger (Year 1 lost to UAB then proceeded to get into the Peach Bowl and win over the #1 offense in the Nation) The following started 4-3 and won the SEC (Thats two) last year started off like a bandit until Mauck got hurt, our Defensive leader was booted and the Injury bug showed up. IN short in 3 years Saban has 2 years where the exact opposite.. Just my 2 bucks. As far as the Original Post, I think All 4 big boys in the west are going to beat each other. It will be a wild finish in the west. Who knows at this point. Beat the Bull Dogs.
Arkansas won't hang with this LSU bunch. We're too fast and physical. The game is in DEATH VALLEY on a friday ... short Turkey Day & weekend. LSU has some serious retribution to lay on the hogs. The Dee will be motivated ... UA won't get out of Death Valley alive. They'll haul 'em off on gurneys.
I guess I should have said LSU has been inconsistant, by that I mean sometimes losing to teams they should beat handily and winning against tough teams. Dont get me wrong, I think LSU is a great team this year. Nick is one of the scariest coaches to play against... maybe even as scary as Spurrier was... Interesting stat about the home team... If that is true, goodbye hogs?? The West is always so much harder to predict than the east... mainly because you do not have any push over teams.. Every team in the west is tough... (except mississippi state) Intersting thoughts... I just looked at you guys schedule online, you have your work cut out for you... Do you think you can win out? or win out in the SEC?? I do think the hogs are for real this year... At least I hope they are (for the sake of the SEC) some of our powers have been looking pretty weak... we need to re-establish the SEC as the premier leugue... GO SEC
I don't think any SEC team will go undefeated this year without a lot of luck. The SEC champ might have 2 conference losses.
We absolutely can win out, but it sure as hell will be tough. You are right about inconsistencies, but for the most part, it was caused by a learning curve the new players went through at the beginning of the year. This year, it seems all these new guys had sound fundamentals from the outset. That is new to us. One reason a lot of us Tiger fans have so much confidence is because we have seen how Saban's teams improve throughout the year. Last year was a fluke exception because of all the injuries and players leaving the team, though we were still only 2 consecutive hail marys away from a return trip to Atlanta to face UGA for the SECC for the second time in 2 consecutive years. Take that however you please. That stat is pretty much true of the home team, but I think it only includes games in Little Rock, not Fayetteville. Either way, Arkansas couldnt beat the worst LSU team in the last 10 years in 1999, which was in Baton Rouge. That team was coachless and winless in SEC play until that game. I dont really understand where you are coming from in regards to our schedule, though. We have all been thinking our schedule sets up quite nicely. Its true we have tough games, but the only "power team" on the schedule that we dont play every year is UGA. Well, that one is behind us with a win, and from here on out, we dont play anyone that we dont play every year (with the exception of La. Tech). Now we get MSU, a bye week, then UF at home. We also have Auburn and Arkansas at home. All of our tough games are at home, this year. What did you see that made it look so bad?
