how the bowl selection process works? If LSU does not make it to the SECCG how do they get a BCS bowl or could they? If they made it to the SECCG and lost could they get into a BCS bowl?
They would have to get an at large BCS berth. One possible scenario: LSU and Auburn are both 11-1 overall 7-1 in SEC: LSU loses to Auburn Auburn loses to Tennessee Auburn goes to the SEC CG and wins and gets the SEC BCS berth. LSU could get an at large berth. Example from last year: Ohio State got the BIG 10 berth. Iowa got an at large berth. Right now there are two at large BCS berths that usually go to the two highest rank teams in the BCS standing. I say usually because if you throw in Notre Damn it screws up things. Notre Damn can get an at large berth by being ranking in the Top 10.
I think LSU would have a better chance at an at large BCS berth if Auburn loses the SECCG. Look at 2001, Tenn loses to LSU and UF gets a BCS berth. I think this was outragous due to the fact that Tenn was one win away from playing for the national title and then got stiffed.
yeah, if you lose the SEC CC Game, you won't make the BCS at large bid just because of the recent loss
That still proves that in college football it's important when you lose. A strong team like Tenn a couple years ago deserved a BCS bowl, I can't say the same about Ark last year but a SECCG loss shouldn't be as damaging as it is.
yea , but in the case of the big 10 The big 10 has not coference championship game like the SEC, so Iowa and Ohio State never met last year
You would need a team of lawyers to figure out the Bullshit BCS formula. A couple of years ago Nebraska got blown out in its last regular season game by Colorado and didn't even play in the Big 12 title game yet they played for the National Championship against Miami in the Rose Bowl. Whats up with that?
