Chris Rock said he hates niggars.

Dave Chappel has a skit about how they forget to pay their bills.

Bill Cosby says they need to be more responsible. Obama says the same.

Can mastermind complain enough to get all of these threads closed?

So what Chris Rock and Dave Chappel said equals what Bill Cosby and Obama said?

So you are saying black people = "n" ?

Just for the record . . . Free Speech Alley is a no-censorship zone. People are encouraged to speak their minds here. People are encouraged NOT to take things personally. No one is forced to read any thread.

Tigerforums cannot get into the business of trying to keep everybody from being offended. Trust me, the women around here get offended a lot and complain frequently. Every member has something that personally annoys him.

There are no forbidden words. That would be censorship. But we do have rules and everyone should review them. Quoting a public figure's use of an ugly word does not break any of them. But using such words directed at a member is an obvious personal attack. Using ugly words in a cavalier fashion to a member just to provoke them is a personal insult and also against the rules.

Threads don't get locked because anyone complains. They get locked when they threaten to degenerate into an off-topic personal argument that will only lead to deletions, infractions, and bad feelings.

Keep it light, guys. None of us hate each other here and we don't want to start treating any subject as off-limits. We're just anonymous internet characters talkin' here.

    Hey now. Not this one.

But for the record, shouldn't that be him or her or maybe just the plural, they? :hihi:

I think the problem with the N word is that nobody really says it in a racial slur anymore. It's either said as a generic slur or in a "dude" context.

The old slave days are gone.

And you actually called someone else out on their comprehension skills?

Chris Rock, Dave Chappel, Bill Cosby & Obama are all black. All of them have said things which could insult black people - it has nothing to do with what they said was the same or not.

However, I will say that the general message behind what all 4 were saying is the same. Too large a percentage of black people are trash (no jobs, criminals, leaving their baby mommas etc), which some might describe using the "n" word.

Do white people do all the same things? Yes, of course they do. They're called white trash & nobody likes them either.

    I made sure to.

The quote was completely in context & relevant to the discussion.

I'm pretty sure nothing would have happened to that thread if Mastermind hadn't gotten "insulted". I didn't see any personal arguments in that thread or anything that looked like it would turn ugly.

Of course, it's not my call. I just wish we'd been given the opportunity to stay on topic.

I'm pretty sure anyone can get racially insulted by anyone else. I have heard black people insult other black people based on the shade of brown (darker or lighter). Just like white people will insult someone of the same race based on some extrinsic trait difference i.e. hair color, skin tone, bone structure, or even cultural differences within' the same race Yankee vs. Southern.

All in all, an insult is an insult, and when your "race" has only been given the equal rights and opportunities as the rest of the country for 40 or so years, you can expect a little veiled hostility when it comes to some issues.
