I used Google Earth to get a snapshot of some of LSU's campus... It's pretty big... I made it to fit my desktop... It's nice... Quad, Tiger Stadium, PMAC, and the box on my desktop...
http://maps.google.com ... click on the "satelite" option on the right side of the page... I never knew until looked at the campus a while back that there is a big cross east of the stadium...
google maps, satellite, only gives me large pictures I can "zoom" in on, but with very poosr resolution. i.e. like a digital zoom, versus optical. Certainly nothing like the OPs image. Any tips?
Google Earth is a separate (free) program that has a lot more features than Google Maps. You can get it at http://earth.google.com/
No, only the very western edge of the parade ground is visible in the photo. The law school is across Highland from the eastern side of the parade ground.
The website atlas.lsu.edu has maps and satellite photo coverage for the entire state at very high resolution. Free downloads, but they are often quite large and require specialized software. This is a color infrared image of the whole campus from 2004.
looking at those shots it reminds me of what an absolute massacre of the campus the middleton library is. imagine if the library wasnt there and you could look all the way from one end of the quad to the other, man that would be sweet. you would be able to see from one end (atkinson hall?) to the other (law library maybe?, cant remember). they should bulldoze middleton and restore the beautiful quad.
