I'm not sure. The way I understand it, if he asked for money at any point, he committed a violation and could be deemed ineligible. Now Auburn may not have to vacate wins but they could lose him moving forward. Like I said, this is just what I understand.

Unless of course Auburn paid him at which point Auburn is still undefeated on the year at 0-0.

Actually, the issue now is this: If a perspective college athlete or someone representing a college athlete asks for special benefits (money) that player is ineligible. That will be much easier to prove and in my opinion will make Cam Newton ineligible very soon.

Ahh. Well that I didnt know. That is odd though.
I mean these kids in college I am sure some of them have some crazy uncle or grandfather that tries to profit off some kid. But unless someone takes them up on it, its really just someone being a blowhard.

They read the rule on thew Finebaum show. Immediate family makes complete sense, think about how many Dad's could benefit. It's sad, just like in Little League sports, it's almost never the kids causing the problems...It is ALWAYS the parents.

What is interesting is Kenny Rogers and John bond have now changed their stories that indeed they both talked to each other about cam newton.

Why did they change their stories? Probably trying to save their own asses and now that the feds have opened an investigation has them scared. I would be scared and I would do all I could save my own ass and throw some one else the bulk of the responsibility.
I really do not believe this is just a fluff story for attention. MSST or these two people have nothing to gain at this point.

They even say they have the phone records to prove they were talking to each other.

Neither does MSST have any thing to gain out of this. The whole situation seems very strange and interesting to me.

On a side note Auburn fans are screaming the media is trying to make Cam Newton look bad.
On the contrary the media LOVED, SENSATIONALIZED cam newton this season. Any one who watched the LSU -Auburn game was becoming annoyed how much the announcers love Cam. Personally I think Cam newton is a flaky person, and out for him self. Really never liked him. These college players aren't "kids" i'm a student at LSU and know full well what the hell is right or wrong.

I know there are a few people saying that unless its proved that Auburn or a representative of Auburn did something wrong, they are fine.

However, there are a few things that point to Auburn's guilt:

    1. Cam wanted to go to Miss State, then his dad made him change his commitment to Auburn. I mean, the guy even made a comment earlier in the year stating that he would rather be at Florida than Auburn. Who says that?

    2. Cam supposedly made the comment to Miss State recruiters that he had to go to Auburn because "the money was too much". That right there is HUGE, if true.

    3. Roger's statements. Apparently Cecil was very adamant about getting money for Cam's signature. From what Rogers is saying, he was pestering him and putting pressure on him to get the money from Miss State. Now, does a guy who is that insistent on getting cash for the signature just say, "nah, son, go ahead and go to Auburn" without some incentive? Nope.

    4. The FBI. The simple fact that the FBI has gotten involved is the giveaway to me. It is illegal for Cam's father to take that money and illegally funnel it into his churches ( which is what happened ). The FBI doesn't just jump into cases for no reason, so there must be enough there to warrant their attention.

More than anything, the big issue is going to be how quickly this can be resolved. If it takes past the SEC Championship game and it is found that there was wrongdoing, the SEC is going to have MAJOR egg on its face dealing with a Heisman-trophy winning, likely undefeated team that should be going to the BCS NCG.

Auburn really oughta cut their losses now. Oh, and Chizik knows. He's known all along. I think he knew that with the backlash he got when he was hired that if he didn't come into Auburn and light things up, that he, and his reputation as a coach, would be crushed. He got in over his head and found a an, unfortunately illegal, solution. I'd be surprised if Newton is the only player for Auburn who got a check.

The one thing that is for sure, is that this is not going away with out the truth coming out. The FBI ain't going to just back down. Whatever the truth is we will all know. Unfortunately for all those involved and the AU fans, what they don't want us to know or hope we don't find out, I think that the public opinion is gaining on the side of, Cam and AU have done something and it is something that is going to take Cam and AU down. At this point I believe there is a lot of guilty until proven innocent sentiment going around, and rightly so.

You are right about that, the Fed don't play around and its probably 60/40 that they will jedi mind trick them into saying they did something even if they didn't. The longer this plays out the worse it seems to be for fig and the aubies.
