Nothing is going to happen to Auburn this season on the basis of allegations and unnamed sources, so you can forget about the NCAA swooping in to save the day and put us in the SECCG. Nothing would happen until after a formal investigation. If pay-for-play happened, Auburn forfeits their entire season. That doesn't mean LSU gets a championship by default, it just means the SECCG and/or NC is vacant. That's the least of what would happen if the allegations are true. Knowledge on Chizik's part or higher up in the AD would be difficult to prove, and right now I'm inclined to think Newton and his old man snowballed the coaches and administration. If it's some grand conspiracy, well, ask Bama what's the worst that can happen.
This. Well said. I was at LSU when Dupree was recruited/signed. This guy was Jim Brown, Herschel, Dorsett rolled into one. None of what was on last night was exaggerated. You saw the folks he had to look up to. Could be the same with Newton. All kinds of "preachers" out there.
If this is true, then they are already toast. I would agree, might as well go all in. I just find it hard to believe Auburn is that stupid.:insane:
So if AU has to forfiet all of their games, then we are leading the SEC-W!!! :geauxtige:geauxtige :geauxtige:geauxtige
Look, I hate Auburn more than anything, but lately I have kind of taken a shine to them. Since Tubberville left, they have been more bearable. Their fans are actually better than most. And they are pretty dang smart when it comes to football as well. Not quite as many sidewalk fans. That said, they can't bench Cam now. If he is guilty now, they have been guilty all year. May as well keep playing with him & winning with him. Personally, I want to see the SEC win 5 NCs in a row, so if LSU can't make it to the BCS championship game, I want to see Auburn hoist the crystal.
I was under the impression the official investigation has been ongoing almost a year now. Is that true? If so, they may be near a decision.
I thought the same thing a couple of days ago but they sure acted quick with Marvin Austin et al, AJ Green, and even Michigan was relatively quick. You're probably right but it's not outside of the realm of possibility that they work quickly here.
It has to be provable. If Newton shopped his services to State and failed, then he is bound to recognize that State would spill the story. You can bet there have been efforts to insure that there is no money trail, no paper trail, and if the indictable parties all keep their mouths shut . . . then there is no case.
