Bingo, it's all or nothing, unless some evidence comes out, and they try to save themselves from future punishments.
You think Auburn, the same team that smoked cigars in Tiger Stadium, would not be reveling in the fact that LSU would be receiving the death sentence? Hell, when Bama got the hammer we all seemed to enjoy the turmoil their fans went through so why not Auburn? Secondly, a team that receives these sanctions is still considered a "quality" team despite their probation. If you don't think so then just look at Oregon this year with a legit shot at the NC having only played two quality teams...one being USC.
It's just going to blow if LSU is #3 in the BCS and Auburn plays TCU and then a couple of years from now they come to the conclusion the allegations were true and they must vacate all their wins and their championship.
The latest rumor mill has Newton sitting out Saturdays game against Georgia! I have a hard time believing that would actually happen. Coach34sports.com
Okay so the Auburn game is off the board now. Someone on my facebook page said a premature report popped up on ESPN Dallas about Cam being ruled ineligible before the game this weekend but it was pulled down. There's a lot of smoke here. This could get interesting although I doubt anything happens to him before the end of the season.
I've had nothing against Auburn since Tuberville was given the boot. If we don't make the SECCG I don't mind Auburn getting its shot. Having said that, if it turns out Auburn was a paying customer for Mr. Newton's services, then they deserve everything the NCAA and media hurl at them. Especially given the pains LSU has gone through to be conscientious in running and maintaining a clean program. That has cost us a starting 5* QB, several starting O-linemen and a WR coach. So if Auburn was complicit in pay-for-play, I won't be shedding any tears for them for taking shortcuts.
The NCAA has been investigating this since January. They had 7-8 months before the season started to get to the bottom of it. They are inept and incompetent in the best of situations. I'm assuming Auburn felt there was nothing to the allegations so they started Newton. But it is an important point to remember that Auburn knew Cam Newton was under investigation and chose to start him anyway. UNC didn't let their players under investigation to touch the field. So I won't feel too sorry for Chizik if the hammer comes down. I feel bad for the Auburn fans though.
It was pulled down, apparently Ian Fitzsimmons said that in 3 to 4 hours that the NCAA will step in and suspend Cam. However, he is saying that he didn't say that. There is so much speculation, that the internet is going crazy and lots of rumors are being passed along as fact, or...... these people reporting this can't really confirm it yet, and are backing off.
