Do you think there is any chance of the innovative stuff Cameron ran at Indiana with Randle El ever showing up at LSU? I have been utterly disappointed with Cameron. He really fits the taunt "Hey diddle run Ray Rice up the middle". His offense is the least imaginative in the country. If I were the head coach he would be fired. The lack of growth of the QB position is pathetic. At some point you have to trust the players or find new players. That is what OSU did, instead of running an overly simple plan, the trusted Jones and he repaid them with a performance that allowed the QB to contribute to victory; not just a player to hide.
No Cam is of the Miles buddy tree, they'll ride the sinking ship out together. $100 says that LSU could have the 117th offense next year and Cam would somehow get an extension with raise.
Not too many complaints about his offense last year, his first year with a wealth of talent at all skill positions. The lack of innovation this year seemed to be a result of very little experience at skill positions. Kinda hard to judge on the guy after 1 great season and 1 shitty season. How Miles plays into that is merely speculation. His real trial will be next year with many of the same players in those skill positions. I think they will progress, just not to the satisfaction of most people watching.
I think you saw a little of that in the bowl game. You had the Jet Sweeps to Dural a few more zone reads, the offense looked easier to run. Just gotta get better qb play.
As of right now his body of work says he needs veteran NFL talent to be successful and that he can not develop young players.
Cam + quarterback with brains and an arm = success Cam + quarterbacks with limited virtues = mediocrity
Didn't Cam help recruit at least 1 of the 2 QBs we have? And hasn't 1 of those QBs been in Cams system for 2 yrs?
I still think the offense was predictable in 2013 as well. We still ran the ball on first down 75-80% of the time. Mettenberger and the receivers were clutch on third down and saved his ass. It definitely wasn't because of our imaginative game plans. Do we have any counter plays in the playbook? I mean use their aggressive overpursuit against teams. Every team knows exactly what we are going to do on first and second down. There is no rhythm to the offense. You don't see any plays that seem to set up another play. Just run up the middle, right or left, and pray for complete pass to Dural on third down.
