Saban was (is) a great coach, was a great fit at LSU, is a defensive mastermind. I wish he had stayed at LSU; I wish that had been his desire. I think he could have had a magical run in Tigertown and been in the mix for SEC and NC's every year. However, I'll say something that perhaps some folks out there are thinking, but, are afraid to say. I think LSU can do even better. As good a coach as Saban is, he's not perfect. As some folks have pointed out, 9-2 this year could just as easily been 6-5. The OSU, TS and OM games were are nailbiters. (And if the Tigers HAD gone 6-5 this year, wouldn't there have been more than a few fans saying "Good riddance, Nick??") As much as I'll miss Saban and thank him for the past 5 years, I would love to see an offensive-minded coach at LSU. Have we ever had one? McClendon, Arnspargar, Archer, Saban were all defensive guys. Some are saying Petrino could be the next Steve Spurrier. That sounds good to me. If Petrino is the choice, as it is looking, I will be thrilled with the hire and will look forward to exciting times in TigerTown. Tiger fans need to support his choice if it happens, and should be happy with it. I don't believe the rumors that Spurrier was seen rollerskating down Highland Road looking at property, or that Jimmy Johnson was seen getting his hair cut (waxed?) at the barbershop in the LSU student union. I could buy that Jack Del Rio is interested but I'm not sure he'd be a better choice than Petrino. So unless there is a Steve Spurrier or Jimmy Johnson in Skip's back pocket, I think LSU fans should get used to the idea of "LSU Head Football Coach, Bobby Petrino," and get behind him.

Your crazy if you think another coach takes this young LSU team and does better than 9-2 and just as easily as we could have been 6-5 as you pointed out we could have been 10-1. Offense put people in the seats but defense wins championships. That is a fact. Bring BP in here without a great DC and we will get hammered in the SEC. You must have D to win in the SEC.

And if we had some ham we'd have some ham and eggs if we had some eggs.
We could have also been 10-1, SEC Champs and playing in the Sugar Bowl.

Dead on. USC and OU had a couple of 'nailbiters' this year as did Auburn with us had the refs not helped them out. It goes with the territory.

Are you capable of intelligent discourse or is this the only subject you feel qualified to post about? What are you 5'6", 5'7"? Feeling tough by the old keyboard?
