?

Is the California drought a direct result of climate change?

  1. Well most climate scientists agree so yes

So why do we keep electing people who not only believe man hasn't had anything to do with climate change, but completely deny climate change is happening to begin with? It seems like most everyone here agrees that we have had an impact and it's definitely happening.

For lubricants and polymers we have an almost inexhaustible supply if its not all expended as fuel. Neither lubricants or polymer pose any significant CO2 threat either. Oil industry profits are based on fuel, not lubricants. When fuel reserves are exhausted or replace by advanced energy technology Exxon will decline, it will plummet.

And also being depleted at an ever increasing rate. Much cleaner than oil or coal, but not entirely clean.

Wind/solar are only methods to supplement fossil fuels and reduce consumption. It will take a major breakthrough in cold fusion, thermodynamics, gravity & magnetics, anti-matter/anti-mass, or zero-point energy to replace fossil fuels.

The giant impending crisis is . . . what will happen when we deplete our last recoverable fossil fuels and no energy breakthrough is forthcoming. Mass extinction of humans is probable because we cannot feed the earths population without energy. World Wars are probable because hydro, solar, and wind source areas will be fought over. A reversion to human power and beasts of burden will happen in much of the world. Global forests will be depleted as wood becomes a fuel of necessity again. Advanced civilizations will cluster tightly to vital sources of hydro power and vast areas of the planet will become no-man's land. The apocalypse science fiction movie scenarios will not likely happen because of a global nuclear exchange, but because of the depletion of fossil energy.

Bottom line . . . global warming is self-correcting because of Peak Oil. When the fuel is gone, the AGW will disappear. The only catch is that it will be accompanied by a mass extinction of human beings and domestic animal populations.

Because the smartest people among us have no interest in the dishonesty and hypocrisy of the political rat race. The ones who do are self-serving, ambitious, and whores to their funding sources. All we have to choose from are the lesser of assorted evils. Pick your poison.

Don't forget about the climate change heroes flying around in their jets.

Anyway. By the time al the oil is used up, we will have the made the Death Star by then.

Might be the first galactic species.

Sweet speculation about Exxon. It's like saying when the lights go out it's dark. Ground breaking.

Oil isn't going anywhere in our lifetime and it will be one of the big oil guys who likely comes up with a technology that burns fuel more efficiently leading the way.

That technology is much more likely than any other.

Btw wind and solar isn't even truly clean. They have to make it somehow. :)

I seriously doubt that Exxon will plummet. Who better than Exxon has the billions to invest in new energy technologies when it becomes necessary?

    The truth hurts, doesn't it?

Is that as far as you can perceive? I'm talking about a broader vision than that. One that envisions the course of humanity in the future versus some severe practical realities.

The way to what? Efficient burning technology involving a resource that is depleted leads us nowhere.

So what have they invested in non-fossil-fuel energy?

It's not the truth though. You or no one can know what steps Exxon will or will not take.

Yes and to do that we must force other nations to conform.... What are you missing?

Red to leave the galaxy you have to start with getting to space 1st.

In any case, your renewable technology is made with.......You got it right FOSSIL FUELS lol.

So unless you are hiding some matter that is not made with fossil fuels that we can make out of thin air that generates energy, you are thinking of a fantasy land.
