I have been very impressed with the Landrieu administration. Especially worthy of kudos is the office of city councilman Cynthia Hedge-Morrel. Her economic liason, Tina Metoyer has helped me at every step of the way. The mayor's head of economic development, Ernest Geathaers, even stopped by to thank me for moving my business from St Tammany to New Orleans. New Orleans really is open for business and is considered one of the top cities in the nation for entepreneurship. The old days are definitely over. Right now, I'm waiting for an occupancy license from the department of safety and permits as well as a city tax ID number from the department of revenue. I hear it may come Monday.
I met Chad Jones and had lunch with him at another po-boy restaurant a few miles away from me. He is a very humble and down to earth person. He put my phone number in his cell so he could call and come by when we officially open. I know you all think we talked about football a lot, but we really talked about his family and how important they were in his rehab. We had a lot in common rehab-wise because I was in LSU dental school when I got in a car wreck and had to undergo similar rehab to be able to use my hand again. Unfortunately for me, I couldn't continue in my career...but he's not giving up. he told me he was going to work out for the Saints and just completed a workout with the Eagles. We were talking about promoting the opening of the cafe and I told him that I was going to employ a cheap publicity stunt by instituting a bounty program for the Saints during the Super Bowl...One free po-boy to any Saints player who knocks another player out the game !! How's that taste Goodell?????
If that doesn't work, I'm prepared to send out a press release affirming my support for "traditional marriage" !!!!!!
