Remember Miles first year.As the year went on LSU seemed to be just hanging on in games until loss against GA. in sec champ. game.It seems similar to this year. But after the time off they got rested and totally destroyed miami.I think this bye week will totally help LSU and I think we will see a team that resembles the VA TECH. game. I can see LSU actually playing their best game of the year.:helmet: :helmet: :helmet: :helmet: :LSU231: :LSU231:
First off, welcome to the board. Secondly, I am thinking along those same lines as well. I have been banking on the fact that during the month of November, we are undefeated with Miles as head coach, and actually haven't lost a game in the month of November since Arky in 2002 on a last second hail mary type pass. I am also liking us to play very well on Saturday.
I am ready to see that team that played Va Tech that is for sure. I hope we get back to being a FORCE again. Let's finish this thing off boys and go for one of these -:crystal:
I think the bye went a long way in fixing some things, physically and strategically. Tigers come into this game fresh. If they do really well in the first quarter it may be a loooooong agonizing day for Bama fans. (Which by the way, I hope happens) :geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux:
This is something I have thought about often, and I am not trying to be critical. I know that when Saban was here he changed his philosophy on practice, and did not make it as hard and as physical all year to help guys stay fresh and healthy. I believe he eliminated pre-season two a days. But when Miles came here he brought the physicality back. Does anybody think this is the reason we seem to wear down, atleast until a bye week or a break comes along? just curious :tigereye:
Would this, perhaps, be the reason that Saban's teams were notoriously slow starters? I don't know anything, really, about the differences in practicing philosophies of the two coaches, but I do know that we haven't looked dominating since the VT game (I'm not going to count MTSU.) However, we're winning, but I also feel like we're just hanging on by a thread. I think the way that tomorrow goes should tell us, realistically, what we can expect for the rest of the season. I think a strong showing will cement our race towards the BCSNCG, we all know what a loss will do, and a weak showing (but with a win) will have us biting our nails for the next month.
I agree this week will tell set the tone for the home stretch, and I believe it will be all good!! :thumb:
I think the bigger reason we haven't been dominant since Va Tech is that was the last game Charles Alexander and Early Doucet both played. Losing Doucet really changed the style of the offense into a run up the middle power offense (see the 4th qtr of UF game). Losing Alexander meant that Dorsey drew a lot more double teams (see the Auburn game). The offense opened up a lot against Auburn, but the defense had 4 subs on the D-line on Auburn's drive in the 4th qtr. Getting Will Arnold back on the field may help as well. If Dorsey is at full speed tomorrow, we are a lot closer to dominance than we have been in a while. GEAUX TIGERS
Good teams usually get better as the season progresses but this team seems to have hit a wall the last few games but to their credit they still are winning.
